Instructors April 2nd, 2015 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Thane G. Russell, P.Eng. VP Business Development and Technology Absolute Completion Technologies Ltd., International A graduate of Dartmouth College, Mr. Russell has more than 25 years of Canadian industry experience working in production operations, drilling and completions and production optimization roles. His career started in drilling with Texaco in the mid 1980s. That team set records for the deepest and longest horizontal wells of the time. Thane went on to work with other large companies including Canadian Hunter focusing on completions, trouble shooting and optimizing oil and gas wells using downhole tools produced by many vendors. Since 2002, Thane has consulted to production and services companies world-wide on well completion strategies for flow control and sand control. He has presented technical papers at various SPE and Heavy Oil Conferences. Location Metropolitan Conference Centre Royal Meeting Room 2nd Floor, 333 4th Avenue SW Calgary, Alberta INFLOW AND INJECTION CONTROL: 1 DAY WORKSHOP Fundamentals of Flow Control for Horizontal and Thermal Well Applications Workshop overview This hands-on program with case studies and examples will give you a comprehensive understanding of downhole flow control applications. Gain the tools and knowledge to model your reservoir for potential flow control applications. Learn about the full range of inflow control as well as injection control strategies and the current technologies available for conventional horizontal oil and gas wells as well as for SAGD applications. Who should attend Senior to Junior Engineers and Technologists involved in planning and programming of well completions, well services and production optimization. Attendance limited to 20. Learning approach A combination of theory, research studies, tools and techniques plus in-course exercises will aid learning. BUILD BETTER WELLS Glenn E. Woiceshyn, P.Eng. VP Engineering Absolute Completion Technologies Ltd., Canada After completing a Master of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Woiceshyn joined Petro Canada Research to develop multiphase flow meters for steam and oil/water/gas, and research production problems related to waxy crudes, completion fluids design and hydraulic fracturing. With more than 20 years of petroleum engineering experience, Glenn has consulted on sand control, production chemistry, completion fluids design, formation damage and metering issues for numerous companies world-wide – primarily as a consultant with Adams Pearson Associates. He joined Absolute in 2007 and specializes in equipment and completion designs for sand control and flow control applications. Glenn has designed many FDC (flow control device) wells worldwide for production and injection applications and has authored many technical papers.
