Short Courses January 26-February
Language Café

Join the Language Cafe this Friday, January 23rd from
12- 2pm at the Biltmore Suite e105. The Language Cafe
provides an opportunity for Georgia Tech students,
faculty, staff and community volunteers to meet with
Language Institute students and explore culture through
friendship and conversation. It's a great opportunity for
you to share your culture, enjoy the games and
activities together and of course practice your English! If

Motivational Minutes
Join your classmates and staff for a free tour on Friday,
January 23rd from 2:00-4:30pm! Meet in front of
O’Keefe at 2pm and walk over as a group. You will
return to campus at approximately 5p. Sign up at the
front desk in the O’Keefe building. For more information

Atlanta Community Food Bank
Make a difference in the community! Join us for a trip to
the Atlanta Community Food Bank on Wednesday,
February 4th from 6 to 8:30pm. And volunteer to help
sort and stock groceries for those in need. Please sign up
at the front desk in the O’Keefe building. Limit to 25
students only. No exceptions. DEADLINE TO SIGN UP IS
THIS FRIDAY, 1/23.
Student Handbook
The Student Handbook provides students important
information that can assist you throughout your studies at
the Language Institute. The handbook contains the
Student Code of Conduct and all the rules and regulations
that Language Institute students are expected to know and

Insurance
Absences
It’s not too late to sign up for BlueCrossBlueShield
Voluntary insurance for you and your dependents. You
must sign up by Friday, January 23rd for coverage! See
Jackie Ramezani in Room 106
As a friendly reminder, there are no excused absences.
Students have 5 emergency absences. If students are sick,
have to go to court, or take a standardized test, they must
keep documentation for their records. If Kate and Anna
have any questions, they will contact the student.

-Lost and found is in the lobby of the O’Keefe building.
Cell phones must be off in the classrooms, labs and
offices.
-Food and drinks are not permitted in the classrooms
-Check your GA Tech e-mail daily for important
information.

GT App for iPhone Users
For everything you need to know about Georgia Tech at
your finger-tips, go to the app store and download GT
Buzz. The app will connect you to the GT calendar,
campus map, stinger and trolley schedules, the student
newspaper, athletics, T-Square, Buzzport, Oscar, Campus
Recreation Center, the Library, GT directory, campus
police and much more. It’s free and easy to use.
Have Immigration Questions?
Kate is now holding virtual office hours every Friday at
3:00 using Lync, Microsoft’s instant messaging/video
platform! Please see the Announcements section of our
home page for directions on how to log in and use Lync.
Campus Recreation Center
Students enrolled in the Intensive English Program are
eligible to purchase a CRC membership for $93 per
session. To obtain your membership, come to the front
desk, fill out the CRC Membership Form, and pay $93 in
room 108.
SEVIS Workshop Online
The F-1 SEVIS workshop is available online. Please visit the
announcements section of the Language Institute’s home
page to view an audiovisual PowerPoint presentation on
how to maintain your F-1 status. All F-1 students are
required to view this presentation. If you have any
questions regarding the topics covered, please see Kate in
room 108 during office hours.
