The proposals follow a review of public transport services undertaken by the National Transport Authority in conjunction with Bus Éireann. Key outcomes from the review included the following requirements: » Provide shorter journey times and more direct services via M3 motorway » Better match the level of service to the demand for travel from individual areas and towns » Provide improved connections for more people to Dublin Airport Cavan, Virginia, Kells, Navan, Dunshaughlin, Athboy and Trim are currently served in the main by Routes 109 and 111. It is proposed that these areas will be served by a set of newly numbered services, each with separate and defined routings to/from Dublin. This booklet outlines each new route and explains how services are proposed to change in all of the above locations. Contact details are provided on the back cover. 2 Current Services provided by Bus Éireann under contract to the NTA Cavan-Dublin (Routes 109 & 109A) An hourly frequency is currently provided throughout the day between Cavan and Dublin city centre in both directions on Route 109, stopping in Virginia and Kells. Navan, Dunshaughlin and Blanchardstown Shopping Centre are served on the majority of these trips. The Mater Hospital in Dublin is also served. This service operates from Monday to Sunday. Route 109A operates an hourly frequency between Kells & Dublin Airport, providing a link to the airport for Cavan passengers. Route 109 also provides interlinking services between Cavan, Virginia, Kells, Navan and Dunshaughlin. Kells-Dublin (Routes 109 & 109A) A core 30 minute frequency operates on Route 109 between Kells and Dublin in both directions, with that frequency increased to a bus every 15 minutes at morning and evening peak times from Monday to Friday. These trips operate via Navan & Dunshaughlin, serving Blanchardstown Slip Rd, Mater Hospital and Dublin city centre. Off-peak services operate via Blanchardstown Shopping Centre. The 30 minute frequency is retained on Saturdays and Sundays, with all services operating via Blanchardstown Shopping Centre. An increased frequency is provided at peak times on Saturdays. There is an hourly service in both directions between Dublin and Kells on Route 109A. Navan-Dublin (Routes 109 & 109A) A minimum of 3 buses per hour operate in both directions on Route 109 between Navan and Dublin from Monday to Friday. This increases to a bus every 15 minutes at morning and evening peak times. These trips operate via Dunshaughlin, serving Blanchardstown Slip Rd, Mater Hospital and Dublin city centre. Off-peak services operate via Blanchardstown Shopping Centre. There are also additional direct peak services via M3/M50/Dublin Port Tunnel to provide extra capacity at the busiest times. A 30 minute frequency is provided on weekends, with all services operating via Blanchardstown Shopping Centre. An increased frequency is provided at peak times on Saturdays. As with Kells, Navan is linked to Dublin Airport via an hourly service on Route 109A. 3 Current Services provided by Bus Éireann under contract to the NTA Dunshaughlin-Dublin (Routes 109 & 109A) Dunshaughlin-Dublin also has 3 buses per hour in both directions on Route 109 from Monday to Friday. Again, this frequency increases to a bus every 15 minutes at morning and evening peak times. All trips serve Blanchardstown Slip Rd, Mater Hospital and Dublin city centre. Offpeak services operate via Blanchardstown Shopping Centre. The 30 minute service operates on weekends, with an increased frequency at the busier times on Saturdays. Dunshaughlin is also served on Route 109A, providing an hourly service to/from Dublin Airport. Trim-Dublin (Route 111) A core hourly frequency operates from Monday to Friday in both directions between Trim & Dublin city centre on Route 111. This serves Kiltale, Warrenstown, Batterstown and Blanchardstown Slip Rd. Termination/departure points in Dublin varies between Busaras & Wilton Terrace (via St Stephen’s Green). The frequency is increased at morning and evening peak times. Saturday services are slightly reduced, while the frequency on Sunday is 2 hours. Athboy-Dublin (Route 111) Athboy-Dublin also operates an hourly service on weekdays. This is increased at peak times, with some trips starting in Delvin. Following the same route between Trim and Dublin, it also provides a link to Cavan through a connecting service in Athboy. As per Trim-Dublin, Saturday services are reduced, while a 2 hour frequency operates on Sunday. Other Routes Route 107 provides a link to Kells and Navan for the towns of Nobber, Kilmainham Wood, Castletown and Kingscourt. Route 108 links Kells to Bailieboro, serving Mullagh and Moynalty. Route 187 runs between Kells, Virginia and Oldcastle, also serving Ballyjamesduff and Carnaross Cross. Route 190 connects Laytown to Athboy, serving Drogheda, Slane, Navan and Trim.
