THE YOU I KNEW: I played a tune. I played a tune for you, but you would not dance. I sang a song. I sang a song for you with
words you won’t understand. What did you do? What did you do to you? You lost the you I knew. I called for you. I called out for
you, but you turned away. I prayed for you. I pray each night for you, but you’ve gone astray. One day you’ll heal and forget the
scars when you remember who you are.
MORNING IS BROKEN: Last night I saw that look in your eyes; all your resentment was hard to disguise. I laid awake wondering what went wrong. I’ll pay your price, but tell me for how long. Morning is broken. Can we still mend it? Morning is broken. Can
we still make us fit? Cuz I don’t feel I belong here, but I need you along. Morning is broken for me. We sit in silence when a sweet
word could heal. I can’t make you think and I can’t make you feel. Can you see? If I had tears would they touch you now? If I had
words would they change things somehow? I look out the window, the same one everyday. I know you want to leave, but I’m asking
you to stay. I won’t give up, if you don’t say goodbye.
THIS AIN’T THAT DAY: Remember a day when everything was right? The sky so blue and no rain clouds in sight. Drive-in
movies and evening rides, fireworks like the 4th of July. Remember a time when everything was grand? The world at our feet as we
walked hand in hand. So many carefree days doing life in our own way. But honey, this ain’t that day. Cuz I got home late and I
missed our date like you knew I would again. I’ve let you down so many times so let’s not try and pretend. You might think my love
has gone away. You might think my hearts not your’s today. You might think so many things but babe, this ain’t that day. Remember a time when all you were was mine? You’d hold me close and everything was fine. We’d stay up all night long. Our life was one
happy love song, but honey, this ain’t that day.
SERAPHINE: On a hill she sits under a tree listening for that’s all she needs. She walks alone next to streams catching the light
from sunbeams. Seraphine, what do you see? Who are those voices on the whispering breeze? Sing us your song from a different
world. Seraphine, what do you see? Seraphine? Late at night, alone she kneels, painting by candlelight the color of dreams. She
sees the world as a miracle, a secret life, that beauty has filled. She can’t speak what’s inside her head. Can she hear what people
have said?
PERFECT GIRL: Sitting in the lunch room 17 and blonde. Mapping out our childrens’ names and where we would belong. Picking out the color of his suit and tie, wedding plans are ready with me all in white. Oh, his letter came at noon. I was the perfect girl
too soon. But the way I’m made is perfect for you. Working at the local bank 19 and blonde. Typing up my name with his, I’m sure
it’s me he wants. Waiting by the doorway to take my break with him. I blush as I smile; I know I am his. Watching all his soccer
games 22 and bored. Giving up my days to him, I thought there might be more. Sitting on the bleachers in wind, rain and cold. I
wonder why I’m waiting as I watch myself grow old. Oh, I made a call to him at noon. I was his perfect girl too soon. But the way
I’m made is perfect for you.
ALL I WANTED TO HEAR: When you gonna love me just as I am? I got this love that moves a mountain. I got this love that
swims the sea. You ignore me, all my love and kindness. Don’t want no love that moves a mountain. Don’t want no love that swims
the sea. No was your answer. No was all I hear. No put me to the test, when all I wanted to hear was yes. When you gonna see me
with your eyes wide open. I got this love that moves a mountain. I got this love that swims the sea.
CORNFIELD WALTZ: Instrumental
JUST ONE MORE: Could I have just one more for tonight? Could I just have one more for a lifetime? Could I have just one more
for tomorrow? Could I just have one more for the road ahead? Could I have just one more before you’re gone? Could I have one
more kiss? Could I have just one more in case you die? Could I just have one more in case I don’t? Could I have just one more in
case we live? Could I just have one more forever and ever? Before it all begins. Before I fall apart. Before it all ends here.
JACQUI SAID: Jacqui said she saw you around the town and not alone, so tell me is it true? Jacqui said all those lies to make you
jealous. Don’t let it work; it will tear your heart in two. Don’t talk to Jacqui. I think she’s right. I know that she’s wrong. Is that Jacqui
on the phone? Jacqui said she’s just watching out for me. She’s not your friend; she just wants you away from me. Jacqui said
you’re not who you say you are. She don’t know me cuz you’re my sun, moon and stars. Please don’t believe a word she said. So
answer this, why were you shopping in the city? I bought this ring. So take my hand and say you’ll marry me. No need for Jacqui.
She wasn’t right. I told you she’s wrong, I’ve been your’s all along. I didn’t believe a word she said.
FAR AWAY: She walked through the forest with ribbons in her hair. Picking up the trillium as it lay everywhere. Under cherry blossoms she told him her lies. He kissed her lips and then he said goodbye. Far away we go. Always time slips on by. When we seem to
have what we want; for the love of ourselves we push love aside. He laid down the note on the bed where she slept. He’d never be
anything, that’s what she said. Under the starlight he told her some lies. He kissed her cheek and he whispered goodbye. It’s a mistake to say those lies all the time, but I won’t try. It’s easier if I just said goodbye. Exactly at five the bell told the time. He’d walk
through the doorway with love on his mind. But the door never opened. He’d gone down the path. Oh! The lies he told her and his
kisses didn’t last.
WAITING TO BEGIN: I know you’ve been waiting, waiting for your life to begin. You want your dreams right now and patience is
wearing thin. Don’t wish to rush the hands of time. Stay true to who you are and it will all be fine. Baby, hold on; the best is yet to
come. There’s a time for everything under the sun. Baby, hold on just a little longer. Your life is here just waiting to begin, and you
will live your own love song. So, baby hold on. You want what others have their smiles to be your’s. The sun is shining, but your
waiting behind the door. Don’t look through someone else’s eyes. Loneliness won’t be here long, so darlin’ dry your eyes.
