WHAT DELEGATES SAID ABOUT
THE PREVIOUS UPDATES
Excellent - great balance of
interesting topics, central London,
two days of intensive work.
Lots of positive points learnt.
Wide range of topics, smoothly run,
excellent mix of consultants and GP's
delivering lectures, good atmosphere.
Good volume of knowledge passed on,
short duration of each topic - easier to
maintain concentration.
Practical approach by all speakers,
a true update. Reminded me of some
info I knew, and gave me new facts.
Left with more confidence – more
management less referral!
Great variety of subjects relevant to GPs.
The Annual Medical Update for the General Practitioner
Course on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 January 2015, at the Royal College of General Practitioners, 30 Euston Square, London NW1 2HD
11.10 – 11.40
Tea and coffee break
About the Course
11.40 – 12.20
As patient demands increase, GPs have less time
available to keep up-to-date with new evidence and
recent advances in clinical practice. The course offers a
comprehensive and intensive update for the busy GP:
covering a broad range of topics relevant to day-to-day
practice, addressed by a wide ranging Faculty of
practicing GPs and specialists from around the country,
with a track record of dealing with GP referrals. Sessions
are evidence-based, patient-focused, structured and
interactive, with plenty of opportunities for questions and
answers, and with a focus on areas that can impact
practice and on practical guidance in relation to areas of
controversy.
A guiding principle of the course is that in the large
majority of cases the GP knows well when to refer and
when and how to manage in the practice; however, the
competent GP also encounters a significant number of
'grey' cases in daily practice where there is genuine
doubt. Faculty are asked to focus on these areas, as well
as cases that are commonly referred but shouldn’t be,
and cases that should be referred but commonly are not.
