ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
COVERAGE
In 1949, Shri. C. Rajam, gave the newly
independent India – Madras Institute of
Technology, so that MIT could establish the
strong technical base it needed to take its place
in the world. It was the rare genius and daring of
its founder that made MIT offer courses like
Aeronautical
Engineering,
Automobile
Engineering, Electronics Engineering and
Instrumentation Technology for the first time in
our country. Now it also provides technical
education in other engineering fields like Rubber
and Plastic Technology, Production Technology,
Information Technology and Computer Science
and Engineering. It was merged with Anna
University in the year 1978.
The trends and developments in the

Resource persons will be drawn from
leading academic institutions, industries and
senior faculty members of the department.
The
Department
of
Automobile
Engineering at the MIT Campus, Chennai was
started in the year of 1949, with a view to
promote the pursuit of excellence in the field of
Automobile Engineering. The Department has a
team of distinguished, dynamic, young and
dedicated staff members with specialization in
wider areas to provide superior teaching,
guidance, inspiration and motivation that may
spur students to challenge extraordinary
frontiers. Currently the Department offers
Undergraduate Programme B.E. (Automobile)
Fulltime/Part time, Postgraduate Programme
M.E. (Automobile), Research Programme M.S.
and Ph.D. aimed at producing quality
professional and researchers.

engineering.
To give research insights to the young faculty
members in the automotive area.
There is no registration fee for this
seminar. The number of participants is restricted
to 30 only. Participants are selected on first come
first serve basis and will be intimated through
e-mail. Participants are requested to make their
own
arrangements
for
travel
and
accommodation. All sessions are compulsory
and Certificates will be issued to the participant
only if all sessions are attended.
