FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL
January 20, 2015
Parents,
Good afternoon! I hope everyone enjoyed the nice weather over our 3-day weekend. First, I
would like to thank you for a smooth early dismissal last week. Hopefully these types of events
will be few and far between. We are in the last half of January without missing any days for
snow and hopefully that trend will continue.
This will be a busy week here at Holy Family. MAP testing will continue as we gear up for
Catholic Schools Week. I have been looking at our MAP scores over the first two weeks and I
have been extremely impressed with our teachers and students who have showed excellent
growth since testing in August. I will be putting out a more detailed report of the test results in
February once testing is completed.
Next week is Catholic Schools Week. This week will be full of fun events for our students! We
have guest speakers, special dress days, a book fair, and a carnival planned. A finalized list of
events will be coming home later this week. The week will begin with our school Mass at 11:15
on Sunday January 25th. We would like all of our students to attend wearing their school
uniform and sit together in their reserved section.
Our St. Patrick’s Day party is fast approaching. This is a fun night for everyone that helps to
raise money for our school. One ticket will be coming home with each student today, the cost
of the ticket is $100. Each ticket is good for admission to the event as well as entry into the
raffle, 350 tickets will be sold. We ask that each family sell one ticket.
God Bless,
Matt Anderson

Reminder
If you are going to volunteer to drive students for field trips there is paper work in the office you must complete. If you
have not done this and intend to help us out in this very much needed and appreciated volunteer act of kindness please
stop by the office and get this done A.S.A.P. We need you!
If you want to be a volunteer please stop by the office and signup for virtus training if you have not done it yet. We love
our volunteers, we couldn’t do what we do without you!
Script Program Incentive for Participation
WE are on a mission! We want to get 100% participation from our middle and high school student’s parents in the script
program. If you already participate you know how easy and convenient it is.
As an incentive we have offered to the students that once we get 100% participation from all of our student’s families we
will have a buffet potluck lunch at school and parents are invited. This is only for the middle and high school.
Students/Parents and staff will bring a favorite dish to enjoy family style instead of a school lunch. The lunch would be
from 11:00am – 12:10pm and they would still get recess. It would be scheduled on a Thursday or a Friday which means
they would not have P.E. that day.
The gift card program has a new format that will make shopping with gift cards even easier. It is perfect for families on
the go. You can now set up an account with shopwithscrip.com and use your checking account to purchase gift cards that
are emailed directly to you.
Don’t forget to register your Kroger Plus cards. Our organization number is 82133.

Dear Parents,
I was pleased with the amount of research and effort each student put toward
their article rough drafts. Students will have the balance of the week to perfect
the articles and our e-newsletter will launch on Friday, January 23.
I am requesting students fulfill a two hour shift in the concession stand at the
basketball games on Sunday, January 25. I will distribute a schedule during class
today. Please review the schedule and sign it after your child picks a time to
volunteer. This will be a portion of their public service grade.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Have a great week!

Holy Family PLAYSCHOOL &
After School Programs
January 20, 2015
We had a wonderful week discussing our similarities and differences. Our hope is
that all the children celebrate their differences! I hope you all had a wonderful
long weekend.
This week, we are going to begin focusing pencil grasping, name writing, and
learning dates of birth. Of course, if your child has mastered these skills, we will
work on something appropriate for their level of development. We will also
continue covering our phonetic alphabet.
Remember to send in your donations for Community Hospice of Ashland. Donated
items may include individually wrapped snacks (peanut butter and/or cheese and
crackers, snack cakes such as Little Debbie cakes, etc) for the patients and their
families. Fabric scraps are also needed. The Hospice quilters present a free quilt
to all their patients. They are in constant need of fabric, especially patriotic
themed/colors because they provide one in such colors to honor all previous
service members. This is near and dear to my heart and I ask you to provide
donations as you are able to do so.
As you do your shopping, please remember to buy some cases of pop and/or water
for our Athletic Association. The proceeds from concessions items benefit ALL
students at Holy Family! Also, we need parents/grandparents to volunteer to work
the concession stand.
We have had several children that had to wear their “extra” clothing home with
them this week. Please make sure we have extra clothing on hand so that they
have clothing in the event of another accident.
ALSO, please make sure that as your children get their vaccinations that you
provide a copy of the latest vaccination record to our staff.
We have some extra Playschool and After School shirts available!! If you are
interested in purchasing one, please see me.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
