NiagaraAX Framework Version 3.8 Feature Overview February 2014 © Tridium 2014 Feature Overview • Security Improvements – – – – Password Strength Configuration LDAPv3 Support FIPS 140-2 Level 1 Compliance IEEE 802.1x Wired Authentication • Data Management – Series Transform Enhancements • Platform Support – Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 Support • UI Improvements – Scalable Vector Graphic Support – Support for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Characters – Enhanced Mobile Experience SECURITY IMPROVEMENTS Password Strength Configuration • Who? – IT Managers • Value Proposition: Users have the ability to choose the level of strength of the passwords based on the needs of the installation • Feature – Detailed Configuration of Password Strength Parameters LDAPv3 & Kerberos Client Authentication • Who? – IT Manager • Value Proposition: Customers can use industry standard LDAPv3 which addresses limitations of LDAPv2 in the areas of internationalization, authentication, referral, and deployment as well as support for Kerberos Client Authentication • Feature Description: – LDAPv3 User Service – Kerberos Client Authentication IEEE 802.1x Wired Authentication • Who? – System Integrators and End Users • Value Proposition: Additional security barrier added to the intranet used to prevent guest, rogue, or unmanaged computers that cannot authenticate from connecting • Feature Description: NiagaraAX 3.8 provides support for IEEE 802.1x which is an IEEE Standards for port-based Network Access Control that provides an authentication mechanism to devices wishing to attach to a LAN or WLAN – Requires the license feature IEEE 802.1x FIPS 140-2 Level 1 Validated Encryption • Who? – System Integrators and End Users • Value Proposition: Increased customer comfort in the security of encrypted of data • Feature Description: NiagaraAX 3.8 supports the option to run a FIPS 140-2 Level 1 compliant mode that uses a 3rd party FIPS 140-2 Validated module supplied from Entrust – NIST Listing for Entrust Module – The FIPS validated mode for NiagaraAX is sold as a Software Option and is installed using the Distribution File Installer NiagaraAX Update: Guest Account • The Guest Account has been disabled in NiagaraAX version 3.8 • An enabled Guest Account provides a decreased level of security for a Niagara system and Tridium strongly discourages customers from enabling it. • If a system requires the Guest Account, it can be activated by ordering part number SP-GUEST-AX • This applies to all hosts excluding Demo Stations DATA MANAGEMENT Series Transform Enhancements • Who? – System Integrators • Value Proposition: Provide greater flexibility to manipulate Niagara data sets for enhanced reporting and visualization • Feature – The Filter Node: Provides a user interface to allow the user to perform a BQL query against a result set of an incoming node, then pushes that result set out to the next connected node. Series Transform Enhancements • Who? – System Integrators • Value Proposition: Provide greater flexibility to manipulate Niagara data sets for enhanced reporting and visualization • Feature – The Time Shift Node: Shifts the timestamp value of the incoming record sets by the amount determined by the shift. This way, you can have records from today compared directly on the X axis of a history graph with the records from yesterday by shifting today’s records by 24 hours in the past. PLATFORM SUPPORT Windows 8 & Windows Server 2012 • Who? – System Integrators and End Users • Value Proposition: Run NiagaraAX Workbench and AX Supervisor on the latest Microsoft Windows technology • Feature Description: – NiagaraAX 3.8 has been fully tested and improved to support Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 including smart screen icons UI IMPROVEMENTS Scalable Vector Graphics Support • Who? – System Integrators and End Users • Value Proposition: The embedded Batik Java SVG Toolkit allows System Integrators to design graphics that scale without degrading the quality using SVG images • Features – Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) can be used in Px pages in the same manor as GIF, PNG, or JPG images – New BPicture Widget Allows Scaling of Rastor Images Asian Character Support • Who? – System Integrators and End Users for Asian Markets (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) • Value Proposition: Chinese, Japanese, and Korean users can view text in their native language in field editors and PDF Exports • Features – Workbench supports CJK Text Input Methods – CJK Characters Render in Workbench – CJK Characters Export to PDF Enhanced Mobile Experience • Who? – System Integrators and End Users • Value Proposition: Create complex mobile views for facility owners and operators using only the NiagaraAX Tool • Features: – Absolute Positioning for Mobile Applications – Reuse Existing Px Pages as Mobile Views – Zooming on the Px Editor to Facilitate Mobile Design Enhanced Mobile Experience • Create rich Mobile Pages that resemble the graphical images of a desktop Px Page by inserting a Canvas Pane into a Basic Mobile Pane and absolutely positioning widgets. • Copy existing Px pages to a Mobile View by selecting the Canvas Pane in the Widget Tree of the Px Graphic and Pasting it on a Basic Mobile Pane – All widgets supported by Mobile will be copied into the Mobile Canvas Pane Copy Paste Mobile! Enhanced Mobile Experience • The Px Editor now includes three new tool bar icons that provide for zooming in and out. The Zoom status is now located at the bottom right of Workbench.
