Here are your next steps: Look through the list of locations and pray about which one you feel God wants you to consider. Begin raising financial support and making room in your schedule. Attend the interest meeting for the trip to learn more of the details and requirements needed to participate. (The interest meeting dates will be posted soon and will start near the end of 2013). Team members may be a part of feedings, medical clinics, sports camps, Bible clubs and various types of humanitarian aid all as a way of opening doors to present the gospel. Israel | 1st Trip: July 2-12 | 2nd Trip: July 9-19 Estimated Cost: $3,600 Type of Trip: Evangelism/Children’s Ministry Team Make-Up: 5 adults per trip Shandon will run a two week day camp in conjunction with the Nazareth Baptist school using two back to back teams. Chicago, IL | July 26 – August 2 Estimated Cost: $1,100 Type of Trip: Church Planting/Evangelism/Community Service Team Make-Up: 12-20 adults This team will work in conjunction with our church planting partner, Mosaic Church, located in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago. Teams will engage in promoting awareness for the church, doing community service projects, running a summer kids club and practicing relational evangelism. Washington, DC | August 2-7 Estimated Cost: $750 Type of Trip: Choir/Music Ministry Team Make-Up: 50-100 adults This team will work with an inner city mission providing meals and care during the week. There will be singing opportunities at two different churches in addition to impromptu concerts in public areas around Washington. Scotland | August 29-September 6 Estimated Cost: $2,100 Type of Trip: Church Planting/Evangelism Team Make-Up: 8-10 adults This team will work with an IMB missionary in Glasgow, Scotland to help with relational evangelism, prayer walking and other activities to help build a network of house churches. This trip will involve a lot of walking so physical endurance is a must. Indonesia | June 18-28 Estimated Cost: $3,500 Type of Trip: Evangelism/Teaching English Team Make-Up: 6 to 8 adults This team will work with Shandon mission partners serving in Indonesia. Participants will help teach English through storytelling as well as other community minded service projects. This team will primarily be working within a Muslim context so special training will be given beforehand on how to share your faith in that area. 2014 short term trips Knoxville, TN | April 27 – May 2 Estimated Cost: $325 Type of Trip: Construction/Evangelism Team Make-Up: 20 to 30 adults This team will be working with the Knox County Association of Baptists doing home makeovers and evangelistic outreach. This trip combines construction with other types of ministry and is a great starting point for someone that has never been on a mission trip. Montreal | June (exact dates TBD) Estimated Cost: $1,100 Type of Trip: Singles Ministry Team Make-Up: 12-18 adults This team will work in conjunction with Connection Church, located in the Ahuntsic area of Montreal. Teams will engage in promoting awareness for the church, doing community service projects, and practicing relational evangelism. FAMILY mission trips Charleston, SC | April 12 Estimated Cost: $25 Type of Trip: Family Mission Trip/Church Planting Team Make-Up: 30 – 50 (adults and children) This trip is designed with the family in mind. We’ll be supporting our Charleston church planting partner, Awaken Church, to help distribute church promotional material and serve their community. Sevierville, TN | May 2-4 Estimated Cost: $60 Type of Trip: Family Mission Trip Team Make-Up: up to 50 (adults and children) This team will work on and with the Wears Valley Ranch in Sevierville, Tennessee. We will support the ranch kids, house parents, and staff by providing much needed volunteer project assistance as well as showing them Christian love and encouragement through joint social and worship activities. Children first grade and up are welcome to participate (if accompanied by a parent). Families will need to provide their own transportation to and from Tennessee.
