President’s Letter
Greetings,
If you did not get a chance to attend the annual INWC Awards banquet you missed a stellar
event. The venue was extraordinary with one of the best after dark views of downtown and the
river in Spokane. My sincerest congratulations to all the deserving winners. One of my most
appreciated aspects of the council is that we take the time to recognize and promote those individuals who go above and beyond to make the INWC the community leader it is. A special
thanks to the Awards Committee for making this significant event such a great success.
509-487-8552
As hands on projects play such a vital role for the council, the Board was challenged to come up
with some new ideas to increase our boots on the ground efforts this year. The Board of Directors responded with many new ideas to increase our community presence and continue to get
our INWC family involved. If you have suggestions for INWC projects please let myself, the
office or any of the Board members know so we can consider them. Projects can be of most any
nature including park and lake beautification tasks, everything that would help wildlife and birds,
improving hunting heritage or simply ideas to unite the INWC in our efforts to fulfill our mission.

February, the down hill slide into spring, yes I do know that we
can still have some bad weather. But that does not slow down my
enthusiasm that it’s right around the corner.
Along with the Big Horn Show!
The booths have been sold, the entertainment is in place, we
have door give aways, adventure passport prizes, a climbing wall,
the Reptile Man, Rocky Mountain Great Elk Tour, great sponsors, the poster and billboard are ready to be presented, the hats
have arrived. I have done my job and now it is your turn to do
your part. Without you our volunteers everything that Jean and I
have worked on and put into place would not come to light.
Now is the time to contact a committee chair and sign up. Everyone needs your help, don’t wait by the phone to be called, jump
in with both feet and give us a call. Also a great way to see the
show for free.

WDFW Police featured on Animal Planet’s “Rugged Justice”
Animal Planet's new documentary series 'Rugged Justice' follows Washington State Department
of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) police as they patrol mountains, coasts and city streets, protecting
natural resources and serving the people of Washington.
The six-episode series premieres Sunday, Jan. 18, at 8 p.m. on Animal Planet.
"Our participation in the series provides an opportunity for WDFW's Law Enforcement Program
to promote the department and the dedicated professionals that carry out our mission of protecting our natural resources and the public we serve," said WDFW deputy chief Mike Hobbs.
"Policing the outdoors presents unique challenges, and this show helps to inform the public
about our critical role in preserving, protecting and perpetuating fish, wildlife and ecosystems in
Washington."
WDFW officers enforce all state laws, including those related to fishing and hunting, licensing
and protecting natural habitat. Officers also provide first response to incidents involving potentially dangerous wildlife, including bear and cougar, and other public safety issues.
"Rugged Justice' provides a window into the vital, varied and sometimes harrowing work of officers as they protect nature and people in Washington," said Steve Crown, WDFW enforcement
chief.
The WDFW enforcement program has 144 officers deployed statewide.
Officers appearing in 'Rugged Justice' were not paid by the show's producers or Animal Planet
for their participation.
