ADORATION 101
“His mother said to the servants,
‘Do whatever he tells you.’ “ (John 2:5)
In the next few Adoration 101 articles I am going to present
some practical ways of discernment while before Jesus in the
Blessed Sacrament. All of us are faced with choices in life;
some are great, life-changing choices and others are more
insignificant. Nevertheless, life is a matter of choosing. God
has given us free will to choice to do the good, loving Him by
doing His will. Within His will is lasting happiness. Discerning
what His will is can be a crucial, difficult and oftentimes, a
painful process; especially when the choice we are to make is
big. So why discernment before the Blessed Sacrament? In
laymen’s terms, discernment before the Blessed Sacrament is
like hitting the fast-forward button. To be face-to-face with the
One who knows what is best for our lives and what will bring
us peace is altogether obvious. However, we must be
absolutely certain we desire to do His will alone. Otherwise,
the choice we make will be as if building our house (the
decision we make) on sand, as our Lord taught us. Once
opposition or any road blocks take place, we run the risk of
everything collapsing and we’re left wondering where we went
wrong. So the first lesson in discernment before the Blessed
Sacrament is a firm amendment to want to do God’s will. We
cannot hide any secret motive or intention of our own. This is
critical. To be His instrument we must be completely pliable in
His hands. Very often, doing God’s will can be scary at first, I
admit, because it’s traveling towards the unknown based solely
on trust, and usually causes us to climb outside our comfort
zone. However, over time you will learn that each experience
He gives you is one of exhilaration and true satisfaction. In
time, you’ll long to do whatever He tells you, as our Lady did,
and you will realize that you truly are a light to the world. –
Paul A. Ray

“One of the gravest errors of our time is the dichotomy between
the faith which many profess and the practice of their daily
lives… The Christian who shirks his temporal duties shirks his
duties towards his neighbor, neglects God himself, and
endangers his eternal salvation.”
(Second Vatican
Council,Gaudium et spes)
So which would you choose: popularity or salvation? Brothers
in Christ, this world makes it far too easy to sacrifice
faithfulness to God on the altar of secularity. St Paul reminds
us to “not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by
the renewing of your mind” (Rom 12:2). Join the men of Esto
Vir! in a total transformation as we encourage each other to
frequent the Sacraments, grow in Holiness, and dare to be
Catholic in every aspect of our lives.

Introduction to the Guardian Angel
Consecration to the Guardian Angel for Children
Next Saturday & Sunday, February 7 & 8
By Fr. Wolfgang Seitz, Canons Regular of the Holy Cross
Next Saturday, February 7, and Sunday, February 8, Fr. Wolfgang will preach at all
the Masses on the role of the angels in our spiritual life and, particularly, on the benefits of a Consecration to the Guardian Angel for Children. This topic may be of special FARNOSŤ SVÄTÝCH CYRILA A METODA
interest for families.
St. Thérèse of Lisieux is a prominent saint who cherished a special devotion to the
Holy Angels. At the age of nine years, before her First Holy Communion, she consecrated herself to the Holy Angels. This fitted very well her Little Way, since our Lord
Himself associated littleness with the presence and care of the Holy Angels: “See that
: 586.726.6911
you do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you, their Angels in heaven always
: 586.685.1070
behold the face of My Father in Heaven” (Mt 18:10).

The sooner a child learns to know and to love its Guardian Angel, the more likely it
will keep its soul pure for God, and the surer it will find its way to God throughout its

life.

saints changed the life of a modern woman. In My Sisters the Saints, author Colleen
Carroll Campbell blends her personal narrative of spiritual seeking, trials, stumbles, and
breakthroughs with the stories of six women saints who profoundly changed her life:
Teresa of Avila, Therese of Lisieux, Faustina of Poland, Edith Stein of Germany,
Mother Teresa of Calcutta, and Mary of Nazareth. Drawing upon the rich writings and
examples of these extraordinary women, the author reveals Christianity's liberating

Ss. Cyril & Methodius Parish is a Roman
Catholic Community that welcomes all
who wish to learn about, embrace and
actively practice the Roman Catholic
religion. As a “family of families,” we
are dedicated to the propagation and
deepening of our Catholic faith. This is
facilitated through the teaching of, and
adherence to, the Magisterium and
traditions of the Roman Catholic Church.
FARNOSŤ SVÄTÝCH
CYRILA A METODA
Farnosť sv. Cyrila je slovenská rímskokatolícka farnosť, ktorá je otvorená
každému, kto chce spoznávať a žiť
katolícku vieru. Ako „Rodina rodín“ a
„spoločenstvo spoločenstiev“ sa snažíme
vieru žiť a šíriť tak, aby ľudia spoznali
Boha a prinášali Kristov pokoj a radosť
medzi ľudí. Farnosť sa usiluje byť
centrom spoločenského a kultúrneho
života všetkých Slovákov, ktorí sú vždy
vítaní na tunajšej pôde.
