Poundbury, Dorchester
Hamslade Court
Poundbury Leys
Poundbury is a thriving new urban development
on the outskirts of Dorchester, West Dorset.
It was championed by the Prince of Wales who
outlined his pioneering ideas in his 1989 book, ‘A
Vision of Britain’. Work began in the mid 1990’s
with the aim of completing the development in
2025.
Poundbury is made up of town houses, cottages,
shops and light Industry. Its innovative design
allows the combination of traditional architecture
and modern town planning and boasts a thriving
community in which people can work and live in
close proximity.
Poundbury Leys is located in the North East
Quadrant, the next significant area of Poundbury
to be developed. Consisting of some 500
dwellings, together with retail and commercial
space, the site stretches from the Queen Mother
Square at the heart of the development to the
ancient Poundbury Hillfort to the north east.
Guinness Homes is delighted to offer a range of
one and two bedroom homes at Poundbury Leys
for Shared Ownership sale. So whether you are a
first time buyer, or a young family needing more
space, don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity
to put down roots and own your own home in
Poundbury Leys.

Poundbury HillFort
Brewery Square
Poundbury HillFort, a Middle Bronze Age hillfort, lies
next to Poundbury. Roughly rectangular in shape, the
fort commands views over the River Frome and the
Frome Valley. It is likely that the hillfort was situated
at the top of Poundbury Hill for strategic reasons.
Brewery Square is a vibrant new quarter in the heart
of Dorchester. The “Square” re-defines Dorchester
as a shopping and leisure destination with a great
selection of high street and designer shops, eateries,
and cinema.
Unlike anywhere else, Poundbury has a special
quintessential English charm with its mix of
traditional cottages to grand mansions. This new
town has a good selection of shops and business’s
including a small Waitrose supermarket and
popular garden centre.
Poundbury also boasts a variety of shops, cafés,
restaurants and a pub, as well as a number of
essential services such as medical and dental
surgeries. There really is nothing better than to
sit outside one of Poundbury’s eateries enjoying
afternoon tea in the sunshine after a delightful day
enjoying everything Poundbury has to offer.
Borough Gardens
Mr Crêpe’s Cuisine
Just a few minutes walk from Dorchester town
centre lies Borough Gardens, open all year round.
The gardens contain tennis courts, large children’s
play area, bandstand, clock tower and fabulous
flower beds.
Mr Crêpe’s Cuisine is a Crêperie / Bistro located
in the heart of Poundbury. Their Crêpe batter is
homemade every morning with fresh and local
ingredients (whenever possible) making them “unique
and so tasty”!
As well as Poundbury itself, Dorchester town
centre is only a short drive away. It’s a great base
for exploring the wider Dorset area, including
its stunning countryside, glorious coastline and
numerous attractions that are suitable for all the
family, whatever their age.

How it works
5 steps to your new home
1. Register online with us at www.guinnesshomes.co.uk and have a look at
the properties we have for sale. Let us know when you find a home you’re
interested in purchasing.
Under the Shared Ownership scheme you buy a
share of your property and pay a subsidised rent
on the remainder. The share you buy is based on
what you can afford.
What are the benefits?
•
•
•
•
You’ll pay less than buying a home on the
open market
You may only need a 5% deposit based on the
share you are purchasing
Your monthly payments could be lower than
renting
You have the security of owning your own
home
2. We’ll then carry out a quick financial assessment to make sure Shared
Ownership is the best option for you. For mortgage advice why not
speak to one of our approved Independent Financial Advisors.
3. Once we have approved you to purchase we can accept a reservation from
you for a property. You will need to appoint a solicitor to deal with the legal
side of things on your behalf.
4. If you haven’t had a chance to do so already, you’ll be able to view
your new home once it’s ready.
5. After contracts have been signed and the legal formalities completed, we’ll
meet you at your new home and hand over the keys. You are now a
home owner!
