ABOUT . . . HOMEOWNER ASSISTANCE FUND
Q. What is the Homeowner Assistance Fund and
what does it mean for me?
A. The Homeowner Assistance Fund is an attempt
by the city to allow our local utility customers the
opportunity to help those in need. Specifically, it
allows customers to voluntarily contribute in small
increments ($1 to $5 per month) to a grant program
that assists low-to-moderate income “homeowners”
with home repairs. Grant recipients must show that
without this help they could not make the repairs.
The purpose of the program is to create a way for us
to help our neighbors eliminate unsafe and unhealthy
conditions, and to preserve our neighborhoods
one home at a time. Some examples of how these
funds can be used include: repair or replacement
of furnaces, plumbing systems, electrical systems,
foundations, doors and windows, and the removal of
unsafe living conditions. The funds are not mixed with
other city budgets and cannot be used for any other
purpose.
You will soon have the opportunity to participate by
checking a box on your utility bill or by visiting the
City’s webpage at www.salina-ks.gov.

The Salina Journal is seeking
independent contractors for door to
door newspaper delivery in the City
of Salina. The routes are 50 to 100
papers per day, averaging around
1 to 1 1/2 hours per day, 7-days a
week to deliver.
Newspapers must be delivered on the porch, by 6 am M-F and
7 on weekends. Contractor must be willing to find their own
substitute when needed and have access to a reliable vehicle.
Route profit averages $200.00 to $400.00 per month.
