St. Gerards Educational
Resource Centre
PRODUCTS USED:
Polysafe Vogue Ultra,
Classic Mystique PUR
A large selection of Polyflor flooring products has
recently been installed within the refurbishment
of St. Gerard’s Educational Resource Centre (ERC)
in Belfast. Part of a £1.3million investment by the
Department of Education, St. Gerard’s is a maintained
school which provides facilities for pupils at Key
Stage 1-4 with moderate and complex learning
difficulties. Over 4000m2 of Polyflor products were
laid by Flooring Solutions (NI) Ltd including Polysafe
Vogue Ultra PUR to the kitchen, dining hall and
washroom facilities, and Classic Mystique PUR to the
stairs and circulation areas.
Director of Flooring Solutions (NI), Greer Winnington
comments;
“We have worked with Polyflor in the past and
found their technical and onsite support great. We
specified Polyflor products on this project due to the
availability of stock on a quick turnaround time, which
is always a problem on large jobs. The material was
easily worked with and it ticked the boxes for both
design and performance.”
The five-month refurbishment project saw Flooring
Solutions taking advantage of the Recofloor scheme
from conception to completion. Part-founded by
Polyflor, the Recofloor scheme diverts vinyl flooring
waste from landfill and allows the uplifted flooring
and off-cuts to be recycled into new products,
including flooring. An impressive total of 14.25
tonnes of smooth uplifted flooring and off-cuts were
collected by Flooring Solutions, packed onto pallets
and collected on-site by Recofloor at specified times.

Wigan Youth Zone
PRODUCTS USED:
Polysafe Modena PUR
High clarity Polysafe Modena PUR was the safety
flooring of choice for the eagerly anticipated Wigan
Youth Zone in Lancashire. Wigan Youth Zone is
the UK’s largest youth club and opened after the
combined efforts of businessmen Martin and Bill
Ainscough, Dave Whelan and Wigan Council. The
youth centre offers a diverse range of facilities to
local young people including a gym, sports hall,
climbing wall and dance studio.
Over 600m2 of Polysafe Modena’s vivid Citrina,
Garnet and Angelite colourways were installed by
iFloor (UK) Ltd of Liverpool. They were designed to
create zonal areas within the main entrance hall,
providing a colourful centrepiece and safe welcome
to the local community. The youth zone’s General
Manager John Harker comments,
“Wigan Youth Zone caters for hundreds of young
people on a daily basis. It was essential that the
flooring chosen was able to cope with the high
footfall, offered sustainable slip resistance but also
added to the vibrancy and energy of the centre.
Polysafe Modena ticked all the boxes”.
