Petroleum Geology and Petroleum Systems: Current Knowledge Course Fee :Rp 29.500.000 (Member) &Rp 30.500.000 (Non-Member) Course Notes, Course Materials, Working Lunches & Refreshment During the Course >>>Course Background Geologically, Indonesia occupies one of the most complicated areas on Earth. The archipelago is made up of three major crustal plates and several micro-plates of both continental and oceanic origins. This tectonic setting provides Indonesia with numerous sedimentary basins and inter-basin areas where petroleum accumulations are either proven or possible. Petroleum resources of Indonesia have been explored and produced for more than 140 years. Yet, the Indonesia’s oil and gas potential and production are still important regionally. National and multi-national companies are still venturing these resources. Exploration opportunities are still large in both Western and Eastern Indonesia. Indonesia may also be the most diverse country in the world with at least 50 proven and probably more than 100 speculative petroleum systems. Controlled largely by the different geological regimes of Western and Eastern Indonesia, the pattern of petroleum accumulations differs across the archipelago. Understanding geological evolution and how various sedimentary basins developed, are keys to the understanding of petroleum systems within the basins. Within this five-day course, current knowledge on petroleum geology and petroleum systems of Indonesia will be presented and discussed. The course materials are based on recent concepts and technical progress within individual basins. Detailed discussions will be made for producing basins seeking for their remaining potentials. New ideas on the possibilities of petroleum accumulation in under-explored or frontier areas will be presented. Current statistics of petroleum exploration and production in Indonesia will also be discussed. The course will provide participants with tour of petroleum geology of Indonesia. After the course, the participants will know: (1) regional tectonics, stratigraphy, petroleum systems, and recent status of exploration and production of Indonesia, and (2) detailed petroleum geology and petroleum systems of most basins in Indonesia, their remaining potentials and how to explore them, as well as ideas for under-explored or frontier basins. Specific problems from areas where participants are working in can be discussed in this course. The course will benefit both junior and senior petroleum professionals.*** >>>Who Can Attend Geologists, geophysicists, geochemists, petroleum engineers, managers will get benefit participating this course. The course is designed to be participants-friendly, meet all levels of expertise, from basic to advanced. >>>Course Content DAY 1 Introduction Petroleum Industry History Tectonics of Indonesia Stratigraphy of Indonesia Sedimentary Basins of Indonesia Petroleum System Analysis DAY 2 Regional Geology of Western Indonesia Petroleum Geology and Petroleum Systems of Sumatra Basins Petroleum Geology and Petroleum Systems of Java Basins DAY 3 Petroleum Geology and Petroleum Systems of Kalimantan Basins Petroleum Geology and Petroleum Systems of Natuna Basins Regional Geology of Eastern Indonesia Petroleum Geology and Petroleum Systems of Makassar Strait Basins Malang, 24 – 28August, 2015 DAY 4 Petroleum Geology and Sulawesi Basins Petroleum Geology and Lesser Sunda Basins Petroleum Geology and Banda Arc Basins Petroleum Geology and Halmahera Basins Petroleum Systems of Petroleum Systems of Petroleum Systems of Petroleum Systems of DAY 4 Petroleum Geology and Petroleum Systems of Papua Basins Petroleum Geology and Petroleum Systems of Arafura Sea Basins Regional Petroleum Systems and PlaysofIndonesia Current EP Status, Challenges, Opportunities Petroleum Geology and Petroleum Systems: Current Knowledge >>>ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR Awang Harun Satyana is a Specialist Staff to Chairman of SKK Migas (Government of Indonesia Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business). He graduated from the Geology Department of the University of Padjadjaran, Bandung in 1989. He worked for PERTAMINA from 1990-2002 assigning various positions as Exploration Geologist and Regional Geologist. In 2002, Awang joined BPMIGAS and since then has assigned various technical and managerial positions, since November 2012 BPMIGAS was continued by SKK Migas. Awang has actively serviced international and national geological societies by contributing papers, articles, keynote talks, guest lectures and courses. There have been totally 368 publications He made (93 full papers for conferences, 45 articles for journals, 30 book chapters, field trip books/notes, 104 invitedpresentations and/or keynotes, 54 guest lectures, 42 course manuals). Several of his papers got as the best papers andawards presentations. As appreciation for his great contribution and dedication to geosciences, “Lasut Award” from IAGI and "HAGI Award" from HAGI were awarded to Awang in 2002 and 2008, respectively. Awang is so far the only Indonesian geologist assigned by the AAPG (American Association of Petroleum Geologists) to be the Associate Editor for the AAPG Bulletin (during 2006-2007). Awang is a member of IAGI (Indonesian Association of Geologists), IPA (Indonesian Petroleum Association), AAPG (American Association of Petroleum Geologists), HAGI (Indonesian Association of Geophysicists), and IATMI (Indonesian Society of Petroleum Engineers). Awang has lectured professional courses on various subjects for the last thirteen years, including: petroleum geology and petroleum systems of Indonesia, petroleum geochemistry, biomarker interpretation, petroleum system analysis, tectonics and structure. Strong knowledge on many subjects and wide experience on many basins in Indonesia will provide him a good command of teaching this course. Awang has lectured the professional course of petroleum geology and petroleum systems of Indonesia for 12 years. Filled questionaires from this previous course’ participants rated the course as generally excellent.
