God, please make us both “rugged and radiant.” Recent days have reminded us that we do indeed need to possess real spiritual toughness. Following Jesus in this world has not been easy, and we should not expect it to get easier. Ease is coming in the New Heavens and the New Earth. Until then we will need to have the biblical qualities of endurance and perseverance, taking up the exhortation to “stand firm”. Meditate on these words that Paul wrote to the Corinthians: “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.” (1 Corinthians 16:13–14, NASB95) This is an important word for us today in our context. We need to be strong, not weak. We need to be resolute, not compromising. Simultaneously, we need to maintain hearts full of love. We must have hearts of growing compassion for those without Christ. My prayer is that our toughness will be matched by our tenderness toward those apart from Him. May our sincere faith be both unshakeable and attractive, causing others to desire to know Christ as we do. Would you join me in praying this way for our entire church body, as well as your own life? “God, please make us rugged and radiant! Make us strong and beautiful witnesses for You! May our neighbors see the strength we have in You and be drawn to You for eternal life!” Loving you! Here is a way to show the love of Christ to those in this school community. Collecting immediately for the clinic - extra boys and girls new or gently-used clothes; NEW underwear (pre-K up to 2nd grade), shirts and elastic or adjustable waist pants (pre-K through 5th grade). A marked bin is located in the foyer for donations. THANK YOU for helping to brighten the school year for local children in need. Delhi, India Trip A team of six is being recruited for a prayer walking trip to Delhi, India, March 27 – April 5, 2015. Delhi is a huge mega-city of more than 15 million people, home to hundreds of unreached unengaged people groups. It is a city of contrasts—a mixture of rich and poor, powerful and marginalized—people from every language and religious group found across the vast Indian subcontinent. This team will partner with and encourage Bonnie and assist the Delhi team by prayer walking specific neighborhoods: learning to pray strategically, looking for persons of peace, and following the Spirit’s prompting to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those whose hearts are already open. Please prayerfully consider whether God is leading you to participate in this ministry opportunity. Reaching in Love Update Through December 2014 (2 years into the Reaching in Love capital campaign), we remain on track against our commitments. We’ve received $509,147 or 71% of total pledges and have a balance in the building fund of $1,087,175. Praise God and thank you for your continued prayer and financial support! We continue to have 144 commitments for a total of $712,725 (~$1,650 per commitment, per year). If you haven’t made a commitment to the campaign, it’s not too late as you can join in for the final year of this campaign. You can pick up an information packet in the foyer or request one from the church office, complete the commitment card and return it to the office. If you’d like to give without making a long term commitment that’s fine, you can use your regular offering envelopes and designate to Reaching in Love (Building Fund).
