4th Sunday in Ordinary Time—Year B
Dear Parishioners and Visitors,
LITURGICAL MINISTRIES
It has become evident to me that the parish is in need of
additional liturgical ministers. The situation will be even more
evident when we return to our normal 9 weekend Masses
across the 3 churches.
In practice this means that we need more Mass coordinators,
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, readers,
welcomers, commentators etc. At some Masses we are struggling at times to provide
this support.
Given that all of these ministries call for some training and discernment I would ask
that you consider your own involvement in this regard. Every Mass needs liturgical
ministers to ensure the liturgy runs smoothly.
The celebration of Eucharist does not just happen in other words but depends on a
whole lot of people to prepare and serve it.
This weekend you will see the insert in the Parish Newsletter for you to complete and
return to the Parish Office.
DEDICATION AND OPENING MASS 6PM FRIDAY FEBRUARY 27TH
We are receiving a good response from parishioners and visitors to our invitation to be
present at the new Stella Maris Dedication Mass. Your RSVP's are important and are
encouraged as this is a celebration of the whole parish.
With the opening of our new church I have decided to make a minor change to our
Mass times. The change will hopefully give parishioners and visitors more opportunities as to where and at what time they choose to go to Mass. For example I would like
to trial a 5.00 pm Saturday Vigil Mass at Stella Maris Church ONLY.
This one change will give people the option of one Saturday Vigil 5.00 pm Mass as well
as the two other Vigil Masses at 6.00pm in Sacred Heart and St Vincent's every weekend. An earlier Saturday Vigil Mass could be more attractive for all sorts of reasons?
At least people have the option. At present we have 3 Saturday Vigil Masses. Having
two 6.00pm vigils and one 5.00pm vigil provides greater choice. Stay tuned.
CHURCH DOOR CAFÉ
Parishioners and visitors are reminded that our cafe is open again this year outside of
Sacred Heart Church in Clear Island Waters. Our operators do a great job and offer
great food and refreshment. The cafe operates Monday to Friday from 7.30am until
3.30pm.
The idea to open a cafe has always been one of outreach and engagement . It makes
sense and has proved its worth from a community building point of view. So I encourage your patronage. Consider having morning or afternoon tea or lunch there if you
have not already done so. Our initiative is worth supporting. Tell others about it and
spread the word.
God’s abundant blessings , Fr Tim

How much anxiety do we bring upon ourselves by constantly worrying about not having enough or attaining more things?
God won’t necessarily give you everything you want, but God will provide everything you need. Try this – use the word
“pray” instead of the word “worry” in the future. From http://archstl.org/stewardship/page/bulletin-inserts

Thank you to those parishioners who have been sending contact details through regarding their availability for Stella
Maris rosters. Keep them coming! There are not a great many ‘new’ names, so if you are keen to be involved but are
maybe a little shy at putting your own name forward, or are thinking you are not ‘worthy’ enough, please contact me via
email [email protected] Also, if there are people around who you think would be great at being
involved, but just need to be invited or asked, please send me the name and contact details, and I will approach them
confidentially. We are still seeking a roster coordinator for Stella Maris. Please contact me via the Parish Office if you are
interested.

parishioners to join a Lenten Group. Please seriously consider forming or joining group to gather together to spiritually
prepare for the Easter celebrations, the high point of our Catholic year. Contact the Parish Office 5572 5433 or email
[email protected] to leave your name and contact number if you would like to be involved.

OPENING OF THE NEW STELLA MARIS CHURCH
DEDICATION MASS 6PM FRIDAY 27TH FEBRUARY
Dear Parishioners,
The preparations for the opening Mass are underway. I
am happy to announce that there will be parking
available for this Mass at Broadbeach State School for a gold coin
donation. (This is going directly to the School for its fundraising).
Having the use of this oval for parking provides more of our
parishioners with a convenient way to attend the opening Mass.
Please RSVP if you can attend.
Every effort is being made to accommodate the number of
attendees. We want to make sure you have a seat and we have
adequately catered for the event. Please try to come early to park
and be seated. Can you assist at the event with parking or help out at
the bar? We also require the use of large eskies for the event.
Please notify the parish if you can assist.
Continue to pray for the project. Wet weather has caused a number
of issues for the builders. Have an enjoyable week. Sonya
