(An Open Centered Riding® Clinic with Susan Harris will also be held April 8-9)
Susan Harris – CR® Level IV Instructor ‐ is an international equine instructor, clinician, writer and artist. She travels around the world teaching Anatomy in Motion, Horse Gaits, Balance and Movement, and Centered Riding® horsemanship clinics. Susan apprenticed with Sally Swift, the founder of Centered Riding® in 1989. Susan's study of equine and human anatomy and movement and her experience in various breeds and disciplines enable her to help all kinds of riders and horses improve their balance, comfort, movement and performance. Her friendly and positive teaching style and visual approach help to make learning clear, understandable, and enjoyable for English and Western riders of all ages and levels. New Centered Riding® Instructors are required to be certified through a two‐session process. The first Three‐Day New Instructor Clinic lays the foundation of Centered Riding concepts. Time is given between clinics for practice. The Four‐Day Instructor Certification Clinic adds more skills and knowledge along with the practice of teaching students under the direction of a top Level IV CR® Instructor. All CR® Instructors are expected to increase their knowledge and skills as they progress. Update Clinics are a wonderful way to add to their everyday practices. CR® Updates are required every 2 years in order to keep current the CR® Certification. The second Certification 4‐Day Clinic may serve as an Update Clinic for those who wish to update. Open/Student Riders are encouraged to participate in ALL the CR® work presented on each of the Open/Student Rider days of the clinics, including the Un‐mounted Awareness work, observing all the Mounted lessons, and having one Private Riding Lesson each day. The Clinics are designed as follows: Greetings and Ground Awareness exercises are followed by Instructor Group Lessons each am. Student Riders participate in the last three days of the May clinic. They participate in all activities and watch and learn from the Instructor Lessons. In the Afternoon, each Student Rider will have a private lesson with a team of Updating Instructors, supervised by Susan. Open Clinic Riders participate and receive lessons from Susan Harris on both days. This clinic is limited to 12 CR® Updating Instructors and 6 Student Riders. The intention is to keep the clinic small enough so that ALL participants have great Individual Attention.
