Realities driving up operational cost of WebSphere/Portal Environments
Existing admin teams unable to scale with
impending application growth
Administration and deployment is manual,
time consuming and labor intensive
Defects cause by configuration errors are
frequent and costly
Increasing compliance mandates and
manual compliance processes
Lack of a disaster recovery option / plan
Using Build Forge with their WAS and Portal environments has achieved a
cost savings of over $400K due to automation install and configuration
just in the 1st phase of rollout.

Can automation help your business?
Administration
How much time do you spent managing environments?
How long does it take to build a new deployment environment from scratch?
What would it mean to you if environment management were automated?
Cost
What is the impact to you of not being able to manage multiple cells?
How are other teams affected by deployment delays/difficulties?
Auditing
Are you able to reliably reproduce a deployment?
Are you able to track the changes to an environment?

Does it work? Customer stories
Financial Service Company:
At present, there are some automated processes in place, but with limited consistency.
Knowledge and processes are not standardized across the teams and applications. Much of
engineers’ time is spent executing the steps required to update and deploy these
applications. With repeatable automated build and deploys using Build Forge, this could be
eliminated. In discussions with the team, 50-75% of the total time of engineering is
spent on managing and maintaining Websphere alone. Build Forge can be used to
improve the overall efficiency and productivity of the engineers as well as the team leads and
management.
