520 West Main Street Rockaway, NJ 07866-3799 Todd M. Toriello ● Principal ● 973-664-2301 February 2015 Dear Parents and Guardians of Morris Hills High School, The New Jersey Department of Education has replaced the High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA) with the PARCC Assessment. The PARCC Assessment will be administered to all students in grades 9, 10, and 11 and will eventually become a state graduation requirement. The PARCC Assessment is based on the Common Core Standards in Mathematics and English, which the Morris Hills Regional District has been teaching since 2011. The PARCC Assessment will be administered on the computer. Due to the length of the PARCC Assessment and the requirement to administer the assessment on the computer, Morris Hills High School will be implementing a modified schedule on March 2, 3, and 4, 2015 and on May 18, 19, and 20, 2015. During the PARCC Assessment Testing Program (see below a detailed schedule), the Morris Hills Regional District Transportation Department will be running two bus schedules on March 2, 3, and 4, 2015 and on May 18, 19, and 20, 2015. Students taking the PARCC Assessment will board their buses at their regular time on March 2, 3, and 4, 2015 and on May 18, 19, and 20, 2015. Students should arrive to their testing location by 8:05AM. Those students not participating in the PARCC Assessment on March 2, 3, and 4, 2015 and May 18, 19, and 20, 2015, will board their buses three hours later than their regular pick-up time. Those students should report to the cafeteria upon their arrival to school. Students who report to the cafeteria will be dismissed to Block 1/5 at the completion of the testing program. On March 2, 3, and 4, 2015 and May 18, 19, and 20, 2015, the regular school day schedule will begin at 11:30AM at the completion of the PARCC Assessment Testing Program. All students will go home on their normal buses at the end of the school day – 3:02PM. There will be no modification to the school day from March 5th to 27th. Additionally, there will be no modification to the school day from April 27th to May 15th. Students will take their PARCC Assessment in their regularly scheduled English class and Mathematics class in a testing lab. Students who require extended time will be pulled to a separate location earlier in the day to ensure they receive their full extended time. The school day will begin at 8:05AM for all students. On behalf of the Morris Hills High School faculty, I thank you for your continued support. In the Spirit of Partnership, Todd M.
