MORE GOOD NEWS……….
I can confirm that the Broadbeach State School oval will be available for parking on the
night of the Dedication Mass. For a ‘gold coin donation’ the School has agreed to assist
us. As you can see we are doing everything we can to accommodate all those who wish
to attend. This offer is greatly appreciated and I am sure many of you will choose to
park on the school oval which is virtually just one block away.

Lent begins Wednesday [18th February]. Lent is a penitential season of prayer, self-denial and helping others. In this way,
the whole Church prepares for Easter with those who are to be baptised. Other celebrations in Lent (e.g. marriage) must
take account of the spirit of penance: musical instruments are only used to sustain singing and floral decorations are very
simple. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast and abstinence. The law of fasting binds those who have completed their eighteenth year, until the beginning of their sixtieth year; the law of abstinence binds those who have completed their fourteenth year. (CCL 97, 1251-52). From ORDO 2015
Thank you to those parishioners who have been sending contact details through regarding their availability for the liturgy
rosters. Keep them coming! There are not a great many ‘new’ names, so if you are keen to be involved but are maybe a
little shy at putting your own name forward, please contact me via email [email protected] or phone
to have a chat. Also, if there are people around who you think would be great at being involved, but just need to be invited or asked, please send me the name and contact details, and I will approach them confidentially.
We are still seeking roster coordinators for the Stella Maris 5pm Saturday, 7am Sunday and 8.30am Sunday Masses.
Please contact me via the Parish Office if you are interested.
The Lenten Program Rich in Mercy commences week beginning 16th February. There has been a minimal response from
parishioners to join a Lenten Group. Please seriously consider forming or joining group to gather together to spiritually
prepare for the Easter celebrations, the high point of our Catholic year. Please contact the Parish Office 5572 5433 or
email [email protected] to leave your name and contact number if you would like to be involved.
Peace and grace. Sue Thomas, Pastoral Associate.

LIBRARY NEWS:
Pope Saint John Paul II called all young people to live as
Christ’s disciples. Not only knowing Jesus' teachings and
values, but living them out and understanding we are
called to love as Jesus loved. If we take up our call, then
our actions can make a huge difference to the common
good of the world, especially if we work together in solidarity. Come along to Venire this Thursday from 6:308:30, to discover more on being a disciple and how your
actions can go a long way. Venire provides a safe and fun
environment to learn more about your faith, while having
a good time and making friends while you're at it. Dinner
is provided!
Like us on Facebook to keep up with our events

wonderful volunteer Library Team. I look forward to meeting you all
again and helping to make our super parish Library even better in
2015! God Bless!
Take a look at our new display outside the Library of Summer
Reading. These are books from the collection which readers have
particularly enjoyed.
In the Adult Faith racks are the February Apostleship of Prayer

ATRIUM NEWS
This week we welcome our children and families back to
the Atrium for the new year of 2015. Monday session
went very well! The children were so excited to be back at
the Atrium, and were very comfortable and confident
working with the materials and socialising with each
other! We look forward to meeting our new 3 year olds on Friday!
We, as Catechists, have been attending ongoing formation course
days during the break, and continuing for dates set during the coming
term. Level 2 formation will enable us to set up the space for the 6 to
9 year age group. Many new materials are required to be prepared
