1
RULES
1.1
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2
No national prescriptions will apply.
1.3
A modified version of the ISAF Offshore Special Regulations for Race Category 3 Monohulls with Life Rafts will apply. This
modified version can be found on the Oman Sail Sailing Arabia Website (sailingarabiathetour.com) and through the event organisers,
[email protected]. The modified version is titled SATT 2015 Regulations.

1.4
The Farr30 Class rules will apply.
1.5
Under rule 87, the following rule changes to the Farr30 class rules apply: Rule 10.3 g is replaced with “MAIN HALYARD – Shall be
led below to a cleat mounted on the mast”; Rule 35.1 is changed by deleting the sentence “multiple purchase halyards”.
1.6
If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.
1.7
Prohibited and restricted areas (e.g. around gas & oil installations as well as military areas) shall be observed. The boarder of Iran
shall be respected at all times.

ADVERTISING
2.1
ISAF regulation 20 will apply.
2.2
Each team will be required to carry event branding and sponsor advertising as outlined in ‘Appendix 2 – Advertising’.
3
ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1
The regatta is open to all boats of the Farr30 class.
3.2
Eligible boats may enter by completing the form at the end of this document and sending it, together with a minimum 1000 OMR first
instalment, to James Greenhough, SATT Event Manager, [email protected] by 1st October 2014.
3.3
Late entries may be accepted subject to the availability of places and charged an additional fee of 500 OMR.
4.
CAMERAS AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT
4.1
Boats may be required to carry cameras, sound equipment or positioning equipment as specified by the organizing authority.
Information from this equipment shall not be used by a boat as evidence in a hearing. This changes rule 63.6.
5
FEES
5.1
The Entry Fee is 3000 OMR. This fee includes:
• Luggage transport from Race Venue to Event Hotel
• Crew transport from Venue to Event Hotel
• Opening & Closing ceremony buffet
• The loan of two event spinnakers
• Yellow Brick Tracking system
• EFG SATT Event Branding (bow sticker, backstay flags, etc)

5.3
To reserve your space in the regatta an initial deposit of OMR 1000 towards the entry fee must be received before 1st October 2014.
All remaining fees must be paid after 1st Jan 2015.
Registering for the event after 1st October may results in a late fee of OMR 500.

CHARTER BOATS
5.2
Oman Sail is providing a race boat charter service and other optional packages for the event. For further information see ‘appendix 1
– Costs’.

SCHEDULE
7.1
Registration, Measurement and Inspection will open at The Wave, Muscat on Friday 13th February at 13:30 & close on Saturday 14th
February 2015 at 19:00.
7.2
The event will start at The Wave, Muscat on the 15th February 2015. It will last not longer than 16 days from the first day of racing to
the last day of racing.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available at registration.

10.1
Information about the venues and racing areas will be available in the sailing instructions and on the event website
(www.sailingarabiathetour.com ) once the full schedule has been announced.

THE COURSES
The racing will be both inshore and offshore races.
11.1
The offshore racing will take the fleet from Muscat to the UAE and further into the Gulf. The courses to be sailed will be as outlined
in the Sailing instructions. Provisional offshore legs and inshore venues are outlined below:

11.2
Inshore racing may be held before each offshore leg starts at the discretion of the Race Committee. If inshore racing precedes an
offshore leg it is not the intention to return to shore before the offshore starts. Crew changes are not permitted in this case.
11.3
Inshore VIP style races will be held at various venues, still to be confirmed, but it is the intention to stage 3 VIP races at suitable
venues . The total number of races will be dependant on weather and timings.
11.4
Each offshore course will be raced between scoring gates which will be defined in the Sailing Instructions. The purpose of this is to
allow the race committee greater opportunities for running racing in various conditions.

PENALTY SYSTEM
12.1
For inshore racing only, Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.
12.2
The Scoring Penalty, rule 44.3, will not apply.
13
SCORING
13.1
The low point scoring system will be used. The details of the scoring system is as follows:
13.2
Two races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
13.3
(a) All offshore legs will count towards a team’s final score.
(b) When more than three inshore races are held at the same venue, teams will discard their worst race from that venue’s total score.
(c) A team’s inshore ranking in each venue will count as points towards their final score.
(d) Each offshore leg is factored 1.
(e) Each inshore race is factored 0,25.

SAILS
14.1
Each team will use no more than the following amount of sails for the duration of the regatta: 1 Mainsail, 2 jibs (one of which shall be
the Farr30 Class ‘heavy weather’ jib), and 2 spinnakers which will be provided for the duration of the regatta.
14.2
The provided spinnakers will be a Mast-head ‘all rounder’ and a Fractional ‘reacher’. These will be branded with the event logo and
will be provided by the organising authority at registration. It will be the team’s responsibility to ensure these spinnakers remain in a
good condition.

15
HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS
Race boats shall not be hauled out, pulled over or deliberately capsized during the regatta except with and according to the terms of
prior written permission from the race committee.

GUEST SAILORS
The race committee may require teams to take guest sailors on board for inshore races. The organising authority will manage the
allocation of all guest sailor slots. A guest sailor shall not take an active part in the sailing of the boat in any way whatsoever, and
shall remain behind the helm at all times while racing.

RADIO COMMUNICATION
Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to
all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

Prizes will be given as follows:

3rd Overall
Top GCC Team (or next in ranking, if the same as 1st over all)

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept
any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability. Proof of the insurance coverage shall be presented to the race
committee upon registration and be available in case of an incident.

MEDIA
All teams maybe required to submit to interviews, Team Q&A sessions, photo-shoots, and other media engagements as requested by
the organising committee.

22.1
It is the intention of Oman Sail to send out media reports that are performance focused and crew availability for that day / leg and,
over the course of the event, give all teams an even amount of exposure.

Entering the Event
Entry Fee: 3000 OMR
This includes:

Racing Boat Charter: 4000 OMR

NOR APPENDIX 2 - Advertising
Boats may be required to display event advertising and team identification decals. Which may include:
Bow stickers
• Shall be provided at registration or applied beforehand on request
• Displayed on both sides of the hull
• Skippers responsibility that the stickers remain clear and attached to the hull
• Note: the title sponsor will be allowed to opt out of using the bow sticker. In this case this does not exempt other boats from displaying
the bow sticker.
Backstay Flags
• Shall be provided at registration
• Shall be flown above the backstay block at all times
Boom stickers
• Shall be provided at registration or applied beforehand on request
• Displayed on both sides of the forward area of the boom
