Michael Josephson, Motivational Speaker from the Josephson Institute of Ethics Making Decisions that Produce the Best Possible Result
Back by popular demand, Michael Josephson, former law professor and founder of the National Ethics
Institute, will demonstrate how to make sound, value-based decisions. He will introduce and illustrate his
decision making model which focuses on identifying and achieving the best possible result. Though the
model is useful in all contexts it has been incorporated into multiple training materials such as
California’s Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) and the Department of Justice COPS division.
This presentation will identify the key barriers to the best possible result decisions and common
rationalizations that can lead us astray.

Discussion on the analytical data approach and how it can be applied to environmental crime sectors, such
as Renewable Fuel Identification Number fraud. This presentation will also demonstrate the

Bakken Crude & Oil Transportation by Rail into California –
Where it comes from and where it’s going. This presentation breaks down the classification of oil and
describes the increase of crude oil along the California railways. Included is a discussion of incidents that
have occurred throughout the country and breakdown the NTSB, USDOT, and FRA activities to mitigate
and minimize such incidents. In addition, the statewide program that DFW-OSPR has embarked upon as
