The illustrious Mormon Tabernacle Choir, often
referred to as “America's Choir,” along with its

Funny, fast-moving and philosophical, Bernstein's
take on Voltaire's satirical novella includes such
classic tunes as "The Best of All Possible Worlds"
and "Glitter and Be Gay."
“Leonard Bernstein was one of the most gifted
and erudite musicians of our time, and his love
of literature and wry comedy are exuberantly
combined in “Candide,” conductor Joseph Colaneri
said. “I am always touched by the life-afrming
themes and lessons of this effervescent and
witty score that ring true from Voltaire's 18th
century right down to the present day.”
The production will be presented in English with
projected English text. This production is
generously sponsored by Elizabeth M. and JeanMarie R. Eveillard. Candide is a co-production
with Opéra National de Bordeaux and Théâtre du
Capitole de Toulouse.
Lunch will be served in the Pavilion at 11:30am
and then the Pre-Talk begins at 12:30pm.

Meet a Beverwyck Scholar
A member of our staff since 2010, Katie Smith
has proved herself to be gracious, reliable and
helpful. A 2009 graduate of The Academy of
Holy names, Katie was not only an excellent
student, she was also a championship cheerleader and a volunteer at St. Peters among her
many other community activities. In May of this
year she graduated from SUNY Albany with
Bachelors in Science in Journalism. Currently a
student at Hudson Valley Community College in
the program leading to the degree Associate in
Nursing and RN, her long term goals include a
Master's Degree in Nursing and ultimately a
Doctor of Nursing Practice with a specialty in
Pediatric Oncology.
Katie states that working here at Beverwyck has
shown her that building relationships with
residents and co-workers provide important
contributions toward making a pleasant
environment for all. As one of our scholarship
recipients she displays the commitment to
lifetime goals that show her to be deserving of
our support.
Library News. . .
The Library Committee has made some
preliminary rearrangements of the Beverwyck
Library. Books have been removed from top
shelves when possible. The Fiction, Biography
and Mysteries sections have been reorganized.
No matter the topic, all Large Print books are
shelved together. Nonction has been
categorized by very broad subjects, and now
mainly resides on the lower two shelves. A
Children's Books shelf has been added.
Efforts are being made to keep the books
shelved and the periodicals up to date.
Residents returning books should continue to
place them in the marked basket below the
periodicals. More large print books are being
purchased. Two new volunteers will be joining
the committee: Anita Patka and Fay Fairfax.
A suggestion box has been placed on the long
table below the window for your input. Thanks.
