Role Context
QReserve is building a public database of research equipment, services, facilities and
experts to connect researchers and encourage the use of available research resources.
The Ontario Brain Institute is a provincially-funded, not-for-profit research centre
seeking to maximize the impact of neuroscience and establish Ontario as a world leader
in brain discovery, commercialization and care. This role has been developed through a
partnership between QReserve and the OBI to catalogue resources in OBI affiliated
laboratories across Ontario.
Position Overview
As a Research Facility Liaison, you have the opportunity to work with researchers at
universities, colleges and other institutions to catalogue their research equipment,
services, and expertise in the QReserve platform. This role gives you the opportunity to
meet face-to-face with and form relationships with leading neuroscience researchers in
Ontario to learn about their research expertise and facility operations. In addition, you
will assist QReserve with developing strategies for cataloguing resources at research
institutions by producing documentation outlining best-practices, assisting with
platform design strategies that optimize cataloguing efforts, and developing public
outreach strategies.
Duties

Build and maintain relationships with a select group of neuroscience researchers
and research facilities across Ontario
Assess facility equipment, services and expertise for cataloguing within the
QReserve platform
Catalogue resources within laboratories using the QReserve platform
Regular travel within the GTA and surrounding area to meet with researchers
collecting thorough and accurate data about their research equipment and
resources
Occasional travel outside of the GTA but within Ontario with overnight travel a
possibility
Attend monthly meetings/teleconferences with the OBI to discuss the progress
and status of the project
Requirements

Strong communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English
Experience working within research oriented environments
Familiarity with neuroscience terminology and equipment
Ability to work and travel independently (transit and travel costs provided)
Graduate degree in neuroscience or a related field
