The Members’ Forum is held annually to provide you with the opportunity
to have input into initiatives that will benefit your pharmacy and the entire
membership group. Sessions are designed to facilitate discussion and debate
so as a team, we can unpack industry and business issues and create a
roadmap that will help all Pharmacy Alliance members sustain successful
businesses into the future.
Now in its fourth year, the 2015 Pharmacy Alliance Members’ Forum will be held
in Waikiki, Honolulu USA at The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa. The venue
boasts a balance between the idyllic beauty of Waikiki beach and the dynamic city
centre. This is a perfect location for strategic and creative thinking with amazing
options for adventure and relaxation, all with the authentic spirit of aloha which
is at the core of Hawaiian hospitality.
Market shifts over recent years now demand a different approach to secure
future success for independent pharmacy. There are now new rules – some of
which are defined by current market environment and some that we can shape
together. The regulatory and competitive environment is now challenging us to
show the pharmacy industry leadership, excellence and resilience – and with
almost 500 members we have the strength in numbers to be able to do just that
if we work collaboratively.
The 2015 Pharmacy Alliance Members’ Forum will discuss, challenge and debate
the rules we want to agree to and the industry rules that we want to challenge.
The outcomes of this event will drive the success of every independent pharmacy
member of Pharmacy Alliance if we are united and support each other.
It’s time to challenge
the industry with:
✓ unified leadership
✓ excellence
✓ resilience

Australian Cricket Legend &
Media Commentator
As guest speaker of this year’s Members’
Forum, Allan Border will deliver a
motivational keynote address providing
insight into how to take challenges
head on and win against all odds.
Allan Border typifies the Australian fighting
spirit. He was made the captain of the
Australian cricket team when they were at their
lowest. Neither a natural leader nor a man of
frills, he was a reluctant captain who took the
reins during a dark time in Australian cricket,
following Kim Hughes’ tearful resignation.
Leading by example and by force of will with a
stern and stoic approach, Allan took Australia to
the top of the cricket world and ensured it was in
great condition when he left.
A prolific run scorer, he saved his best for when
the team was on tour or needed him the most.
He retired with a batting average of 50 and
at the time of his retirement held records for:
the most Tests, most consecutive Tests, most
Tests as captain and most Test catches. His
career highlights include a World Cup triumph
in 1987 and regaining the Ashes in 1989.
After retiring from Test cricket, he played in
Queensland’s maiden Sheffield Shield win and
was named in Australia’s Team of the Century
as the 12th man. He later coached Australia
A and became a national selector in 1998 but
resigned in 2005 to pursue media interests,
largely with Foxsports.
Allan is recognised and forever immortalized by
the Allan Border Medal which is awarded each
year to the best Australian Player of the Year.
Pharmacist and President of IFB
(Instituut Farmaceutische Bedrijfskunde
– Institute Pharmaceutical
Management Training), Belgium
Dirk Broeckx has had an extensive
career within the Pharmacy industry.
Dirk is the co-founder of FARMA (the biannual trade fair for pharmacists), and former
President of IPhEB (Institute for PharmacoEpidemiology of Belgium), co-founder of
MWS (Medical Web Services: MediPlanet &
PharmaPlanet, internet services for doctors
and pharmacists).
With an extensive career in the European
pharmacy industry, Dirk will bring his
passion and strategic vision of healthcare,
e-health and ITC in pharmacy practice to
this year’s Forum.
Dirk will talk about the seven fundamental
shifts that will drive future care models
internationally and highlight what the
Australian market can expect and learn
from other countries.

Senior Vice President Health and
Wellness, Canada

in retail including category management,

Exotic Location – Waikiki, Honolulu
This year marks a very special occasion for Pharmacy Alliance with the 2015 Members’ Forum being held internationally for the very
first time, at the exotic location of Waikiki, Honolulu USA.
Home to the State Capitol, Honolulu is the vibrant epicentre of Hawaii. Here you will find everything from historic landmarks and
treasured monuments to world-class shopping and a flourishing arts and culture scene. Home to the majority of Oahu’s population,
the sprawling city of Honolulu spreads throughout the south-eastern shores of Oahu, from Pearl Harbor to Makapuu Point,
encompassing world famous Waikiki.
Honolulu has it all. This is the home of some of Hawaii’s most historic places from Iolani Palace, the Kawaiahao Church, the Hawaiian
Mission Houses Historic Site and Archives and the treasured artifacts of the Bishop Museum to iconic landmarks. From the nightlife,
live music and fine dining of Waikiki to the art galleries and underground bars of the Chinatown arts district, Honolulu is also Hawaii’s
hot spot for arts, culture and entertainment. Whether you are looking for Hawaii’s finest museums or Hawaii’s finest Hawaii Regional
Cuisine chefs, the best resorts or the best festivals and events, you will find it all in Honolulu.
The Event
The Members’ Forum is held annually and has been developed to bring together some of the brightest minds in the pharmacy sector,
including Pharmacy Alliance members, Pharmacy Alliance staff and Suppliers, providing an opportunity for all to have input into
initiatives in a collaborative format. Each day’s program has been designed to facilitate discussion and debate so as industry experts,
we can unpack industry and business issues together and create a roadmap that will help all Pharmacy Alliance members sustain
successful businesses into the future.
Now in its fourth year, the 2015 Pharmacy Alliance Members’ Forum will be held in the picturesque location of Waikiki, Honolulu USA
at The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa.
The Program
Creating the New Rules for Success. Retail community pharmacy has seen a dramatic shift over the last few years with government
reforms directly impacting the dispensary which is the core and most profitable area of the business and this has been the focus
of many Pharmacy Alliance events and industry events over recent years. This year’s forum is about ‘moving on’ and uniting the
membership to collectively define and drive their success for the future. It is also about showing that having a ‘good’ business or
developing a ‘better’ business is not going to be enough for the future of their business and that being ‘the best’ is the only approach
to achieving long term success – however, to be the best will require a commitment to leadership, excellence and resilience.
