Program Descriptions
PRE-REGISTERED PROGRAMS:
Baby Mother Goose (7 - 12 mos.): This program provides a group experience
for parents & their babies. It focuses on the pleasure & power of using rhymes,
songs & homemade toys in a relaxing atmosphere.
Baby Gym Time (13 – 18 mos.): You will learn some simple exercises you can
do with your growing babies. Learn how to add exercise into your daily routine and
help your baby develop his/her motor skills through fun activities.
Early Learning for Babies (7 - 12 mos.): Come and learn about your child’s
development in the areas of cognitive, social, physical, communication, language and
literacy. Experience activities that support your child’s healthy development.
Receive resources and network with other families.
Happy Feet (25 – 30 mos.): This program consists of songs, dance, finger
plays & creating instruments to enhance rhythm, coordination & language
development. Let the rhythm move you!
Little Chefs (31 mos.+): Experiment and measure with a variety of cooking
materials and prepare a tasty, nutritious dish together. Let’s cook!!
Messy Babies (13 - 18 mos.) / Messy Tots (19-24 mos.):
Come sing songs & try a variety of sensory play activities with your child. Enjoy
getting messy with your child while talking with other parents in a supportive
environment. (Please bring “play” clothes and a towel for your child to get messy!).
“Living and Learning with Baby”(6 weeks -6 mos.): Come and meet other
parents and talk about adjusting to parenthood, infant nutrition, growth and
development, caring for a sick child, keeping your child safe and community
resources. Please contact Public Health Nurse Nancy Marone @ 416-338-8659
to register.
Moove & Groove (31+ mos.): Come sing and move with your child! Develop
singing, movement and rhythmic skills through songs, games, and musical
instruments. Experience how music can also enhance your child’s cognitive, language,
and social skills.
My Baby & Me (0 - 6 mos.): This is an interactive program for
parents/caregivers & their babies to sing songs make home-made toys & participate
in informative discussions in a supportive environment.
Play and Learn (19 - 24 mos.): This program helps develop your toddlers’
language, cognitive & creative skills through theme-based play. Children can
participate in arts & crafts, songs, games & sensory activities.
Rhyme Time (25 - 30 mos.): Explore early literacy experiences through
rhyming fun; they are important building blocks in preparing children to read and
write.
PARENT WORKSHOPS:
Parents/caregivers can attend a workshop on a
variety of topics related to their child/family. ‘Kids Club’ is offered with most
workshops.
Kids Club (1 – 6 yrs.): Children can enjoy early learning activities while their
parents/caregivers attend one of the parent workshops offered (as listed below).
Babies 12 months and younger stay with parents in workshop room = babes in arms!
Workshop Topics:
“10 Super Foods for Families”: Powering up your family's nutrition. Learn healthy
ways to increase the nutritional quality of your family's' meals. We will discuss meal
planning and shopping strategies to get the most nutritional bang for your buck.
(Facilitated by Reg. Dietitian)
“Baby Talk”: Strategies for building infant’s language & literacy; learn about
Fun, play-based activities that give children a head start in their language and
literacy development.
“7 Guiding Principles for Setting Children up for Success”: In Session 1, parents
(of children 18 months+) will have the opportunity to explore specific parenting
techniques to increase positive interactions with their child(ren). Participants will
be given a list of strategies and a “tool” to practice at home. In session 2,
participants will share their practice experience(s).
“Incredible Years Parenting Workshop”: (children aged 2 – 6 yrs.) Parents will
learn about play, praise, limit-setting, problem-solving & handling difficult/
different behaviours. Child-minding and snack will be provided. Please contact

“Family First Aid & CPR Workshop”: This workshop will focus on the following
topics: victim & scene management, scenario practice, family first aid kits,
drowning/choking prevention and CPR for infants/children. Participants will receive
a certificate with course completion.
DROP-IN PROGRAMS:
Family Time (0 - 6 yrs.): Parents/caregivers & children can meet with others
to explore a variety of fun & stimulating activities. It is also a time for parents to
talk to our Early Childhood Educators to discuss any concerns/questions they may
have about their child.
Active/Outdoor Fun (0 - 6 yrs.): There will be a variety of physical activities
for children of all ages! Come to have fun with balls, hoola hoops, tricycles, bean
bag, bowling, tunnel, parachute and more. All activities help promote children’s
physical health while having fun with their parents. We may go OUTSIDE when the
weather is nice!
Parent (Feedback) Time: Parents/Caregivers- come share your ideas &
feedback about our programs/services/sites with OEYC staff. We want to hear
from you!
