First Northwood Adventure Lecture
From the
Headmaster
Welcome to the Lamb; as you will see
the last seven days have been packed full
of interesting events. This afternoon we
were joined by pupils from Edge Grove,
Northwood Prep and St Martin's for
the visit of "Micro adventurist" Alastair
Humphreys. Introduced to the School
by Mr Vince he delivered an enthralling
talk on his adventures to date.
I was very pleased to have the
opportunity to read a story to the Lambs
yesterday and see the excellent display
work throughout the Pre-Prep. I talked
to the boys about their writing and
mathematics.
Year 8 have been out on the roads
enjoying their bikeability training
sessions delivered by the Hillingdon
team and I know that Year 4 boys were
given the opportunity to handle 2000
year old Roman artefacts at the
Verulamium Museum.
In assemblies we have heard about the
rivalries and famous players of the Six
Nations Rugby Tournament from Mr
Gurton's French and Mr Brown's Welsh
perspective.
Continuing the sporting theme the U12
hockey squad reached the final of the
Merchant Taylors' Strikers Cup losing
on penalty flicks; I saw the U12A team
and 3rds play some skilful hockey
against York House. The Under 9 rugby
teams enjoyed excellent matches against
Caldicott and the 1st and Colts sevens
teams have started their run of
tournaments.
I know the ski party are looking forward
to their trip to Austria. I wish all the
boys a restful half term holiday.

Alastair Humphreys has been named 'Adventurer of The Year' in more
periodicals and media than you can shake a stick at so it was with bated breath that
we hosted the man himself this afternoon. Such is the draw of this, the UK's
premiere adventurer, that
huge parties came over
from Edge Grove, St.
Martin's and Northwood
Prep. Alastair has bicycled
around the world, rowed
the Atlantic, walked across
India and dragged a cart
across the burning heat of
the Saudi Peninsula. He is a
self-professed 'normal guy'
but has had a life that most
of us only dream of. His message was loud and clear: Dream large and have a go.
The hardest journey still needs to start with a single step but NOTHING will
happen if you don't actually 'start'.
Our boys were suitably
impressed and they realised
they were with someone
who advocated the
unconventional and knew
that life was for living and
not just working. It looks
like the Northwood Adventure Lecture is here to stay
so who knows who we'll get
next year? Sean Conway?
Dave Cornthwaite? Yup, go
ahead, Google them...

Bikeability week for Year 8
For four days this week our Year 8 boys have taken part in the Bikeability course run by Hillingdon Council to try and
achieve their level 1 and 2 proficiency.
Level 1 involves learning to control and master their bike with training taking place on the playground. All boys passed level 1
and have been awarded their red badge. This means that they will be able to fit their own helmet, carry out a simple bike check,
mount their bike, start cycling, stop and get off, be able to use the gears, negotiate objects safely, control the bike with one hand,
stop quickly if needed to and look all around when riding, including behind, without wobbling. Quite a long list!
Level 2 takes place on local streets, giving a real cycling experience. Boys have been taught how to deal with traffic on short
journeys such as cycling to school or to the local shops. To attain level 2 boys had to be able to start and finish a journey by road,
including passing parked or slower moving vehicles and side roads, make a U-turn, identify and react to hazards in the road,
signal their intentions to other road users, understand where to ride on the road, use junctions, including turning left and right
into major and minor roads, decide whether a cycle lane would help their journey and use the Highway Code. Everybody
managed to pass level 2 - very well done!
Some comments from the boys on the course included:
“I learnt how to control the bike and do emergency stops and it was really fun”- James Minkoff
“I learnt how to ride better with one hand and how to do an emergency stop”- Kieran Spellward
Many congratulations to all the boys who passed and enjoyed this commendable course. For more information about the course

Year 1 celebrates Chinese New Year
The Otters and Owls are learning about Chinese New Year as part of their RE lessons. This year is the Year of the Sheep
and the celebrations will begin on February 19th. The boys listened to the story about how the animals were chosen for each year
and found out which animal’s year they were born in. They discussed that it is a time for families to get together and celebrate.
Finally the boys made bright and colourful lanterns in lucky red and gold.

Learning about Shabbat in Year 2
As part of their current RE topic Year 2 are learning about
the Jewish religion. This week Mrs Wasserstein came in to
talk to us about Shabbat, the most important day of the week
for Jewish families. It is a day on which Jewish people
remember that God created the world and everything in it in six
days before resting on Shabbat.
04
04
Shabbat begins at sunset on Friday and ends at nightfall on
Saturday. It is a very precious family time. Mrs Wasserstein
showed the boys what would be on the table for a Shabbat
dinner and the Jewish boys said the blessing over the challah
and wine (grape juice), which they then all got to taste.

Year 4 goes back to Roman times
In History we have been learning all about Roman Britain and it was fantastic to see it brought to life at the museum in St.
Albans. The children enjoyed a ‘handling’ session where artefacts found at the site could be studied and they thoroughly enjoyed
working out what some of the mysterious objects were used for. The boys also enjoyed exploring the museum and finding the
answers to the questions on their worksheets. Of course no trip would be complete without a trip to the gift shop and Year 4 is
now full of Roman replicas!

Inches from retaining the Strikers Cup!
It was a cold, bright day when the Under 12 team arrived at
Merchant Taylor’s hockey pitches to defend the Strikers Cup
they won the previous year. Although the format of the
tournament had changed slightly since last year the boys were
determined to do well and try to play some excellent hockey.
We arrived a bit early for the first game so the MTS hockey
coach kindly gave the boys a 45 minute coaching session. This
was really useful in getting the boys to spread the ball wide
and pass the ball strongly and accurately.
Match 1 v Quainton Hall Won 2-0. Our first match was
against Quainton Hall from Harrow and we started well with a
2-0 win. We started slowly but after we scored our first goal
through Shore we settled into our game and played some
good hockey. Goals were scored by Shore Ojutiku and Krish
Patwal.
Match 2 v St Martin’s Won 3-0. This was a game that we
expected to win comfortably but it was a very young St.
Martin’s team who made us work hard for the win. Their
goalie was outstanding and kept us at bay. We had talked
about moving the ball wide to get round the defence but it
wasn’t until the second half that we were able to do this.
Goals were scored by Shore Ojutiku 2 and Zachary
Garner-Patel.
Match 3 v MTS Won 4-0. This was the final match of the
round robin stage and it turned out to be a comfortable win.
Again we started slowly and it wasn’t until the second half that
we played well enough to score some fine goals. Shore scored
his fourth goal of the tournament and Krish Patwal and Shiv
Parmar each added one to round off a good win.
There was a lunch break next which was a time for us to
reflect upon the success of the morning’s play and a chance to
get some pictures taken with England and GB player Simon
Mantell, who had come along to support the boys.
Having won all our pool matches it meant we played against
the fourth placed team in the semi-final, which was MTS.
Match 4, Semi-Final v MTS Won 6-0. By the afternoon the
MTS were tired and we had an easier games running out 6-0
winners. Andrew Holt had a good game on the wing scoring
two goals and Shore weighed in with four. This win set us up
for the final match of the day against the winner of the
second semi, St Martin’s.

Inches from retaining the Strikers Cup!
Match 5, the final v St Martin’s. Drew
1-1, lost 2-1 on penalties.
It was a nail-biting game from start to
finish and with both team desperate to
win the trophy. We started the game in a
good frame of mind having already
beaten St Martin’s but knew that we
needed to play our best to continue our
winning streak.
Our goal machine Shore didn’t let us
down and we went one up and looked
like we could keep them at bay.
However, we must learn to play right to
the end and not assume anything.
Although St Martin’s were a year
younger they never gave up and played
some really attractive hockey, winning a
penalty 7 seconds near the end of the
game. This meant that it was going to go
to a penalty shoot out. Taking the first penalty is meant to be an advantage and we went one up after Zachary Garner-Patel
rounded their keeper to score. After our first three penalties we were tied 1-1 and it was going to go into a sudden death shoot
out and we were getting nervous.
Shiv Parmar stepped up to take
the first penalty and he rounded
the keeper to the left which
meant to score he had to reverse
stick it into the net. He got such
good contact with the ball that it
flew at high speed past the goalie
and onto the crossbar! Who
would have believed it? St Martin’s had the opportunity to win
it with the next penalty and they
took it.
The boys were magnanimous in
defeat and shook hands with the
opposition. It was a great
learning experience for the boys
and one they should all be proud
of.

Hockey
v Gayhurst Friday 6th February
U10 A Won 9-2
Goals: Daniel Barnett x 3, Alex Bickerstaff x 3,
Prashant Pandya x 2, Kabir Sethi x 1
MOM: Jake Prior
In only their second ever match for St John’s the
U10 As went into this game not knowing what to
expect from Gayhurst. They came onto the pitch
and scored within the first five minutes of the
game. From here onwards they didn’t look back
with nice interplay and one touch hockey to
score five goals before half time.
The second half saw a rejuvenated Gayhurst
team put some pressure on our boys. However,
they soon tired after scoring two goals against us
and our boys calmly put away four more. It was
pleasing to see this display of dominance with
Jake Prior, Alex Bickerstaff, Daniel Barnett and
Prashant Pandya all playing fantastically, creating
all of our goal opportunities for Kabir Sethi to
score. In defence, Adam Knowles, Ben Kleiner
and Ben Hellewell all had a solid match.
U10 B/C Draw 3-3
Goals: Louis Rich x 2, own goal x 1
MOM: Louis Rich
St John’s played their B and C sides against
Gayhurst Bs by alternating each of the four
quarters played. The combined score ended 3-3
with Louis Rich scoring two and there was a
Gayhurst own goal.
The teams played well with each quarter keenly
fought. There were notable contributions from
Dominic Murphy O’Connor in midfield, David
Deng in defence and Dominic Joslin in midfield.
Charlie Hannam played in goal for the entire
game and played well throughout, making a
number of good saves.

Hockey
At Haberdashers’ Friday 6th February
Colts A v Haberdashers’ U11 A Lost 0-1
Colts A v Haberdashers’ U12 C Won 3-1
Colts A v Berkhamsted U11 A Won 2-0
Goals: Harjeevan Sandhu x 2, Matthew Crow,
Max Davies, Michael Ohio-Ezomo
MOM: Max Davies, Harry Bridgewater, Matthew Crow
We played three 15 minute games and in all three
matches St. John’s played with composure and
confidence continually using the full breadth of the
Haberdashers’ pitch to attack the opposition goal.
Against Haberdashers’ U11 As St. John’s were
unfortunate not to score and, apart from a brief and
successful counter-attack by Haberdashers’, had the
lion’s share of the possession and the territory.
In the following two fixtures St. John’s continued to
effectively outplay the opposition and reaped the
rewards of this as the goals began to go in. What was
particularly impressive was the composed manner in
which the boys played, unfazed by an U12 team even
when the score-line was against them. Particular mention
must be given to the three midfielders, Max Davies,
Harry Bridgewater and Matthew Crow, who together
dominated the middle ground with their relentless energy
and hard work being quick to counter-attack but also
swift to come to the aid of the defenders when
necessary.
Colts B v Haberdashers’ U11 B Draw 2-2
Colts A v Haberdashers’ U12 D Lost 0-1
Colts A v Berkhamsted U11 B Draw 1-1
Goals: William Robinson x 2, Rayan Devani x 1
MOM: William Robinson
We played a series of short games in a round-robin
tournament. We played well and we were evenly matched
in our first game against Haberdashers’ Colts B team.
William Robinson linked up particularly well with striker
Sabarish Ganesh. In the other games we played skilfully
in midfield and defended well.

Rugby
v Caldicott Tuesday 10th February
U9 A Won 25-5
Tries: Alex Leitch x 3, Reece Jones x 1, Mason Harding
x1
MOM: Netanel Lawrence-Ojo and Alex Leitch
This was a very good win against Caldicott based on
some great defence and strong running from our main
attacking ball carriers. In the first half both sides were
evenly matched and St. John’s scored the first try but
Caldicott came back near the end of the first half to
score a good try. In the second half St. John’s put more
pressure on the Caldicott side when they had the ball
and this enabled us to dominate the match. We started
to win good ball and at the ruck area we were always
competitive. Netanel Lawrence-Ojo, Alex Leitch and
Reece Jones started to run very well and make
numerous breaks for the side. At the same time the St.
John’s side moved the ball very well and they were now
finding gaps to attack and score tries. Alex Leitch
scored a number of long range efforts and one in
particular was from his own try line. Overall the side put
in a very physical performance and really battered the
Caldicott side down and in the end proved that they
were the better side on the day.
U9 B lost 2-4
Tries: James Collins x 1, Jamie Wood x 1
MOM: Taiga Suzuki
This was a much improved performance by the Bs,
making it a difficult and close game for Caldicott who
were the eventual winners. Much of the game was very
tight with St John’s defence and tackling very good. But
it was the improvement in keeping the ball with little
passes and good rucking which enabled St John’s to
score two very good tries at the end of long passages of
play. Tries scored by James Collins, following a good
break by Shivam Sangani, and Jamie Wood who broke
through to score out wide. There were notable
performances by Taiga, Kianu, Skye and Daniel with
Oliver passing well at fly-half.

Rugby
v Caldicott Tuesday 10th February
U9 C lost 3-10
Tries: Joseph Pressinger x 1, Joe Dias x 1,
Aryan Patel x 1
MOM: Daniel Reid
Playing against Caldicott is always a hard game
and this one was no exception. As a team we defended with real passion and we were determined
to do our best and make it hard for them to
score. Daniel Reid, the smallest player on the
pitch, was courageous in the tackle, often bringing down boys twice his size. It really was proof
that no matter what size a player is, if you tackle
low they will come down. With the ball in hand it
was
Joseph Pressinger who was the most dangerous
and he made many runs with the ball; he was
determined that he was going to score. In the end
though the Caldicott team were just too strong
for us and sadly we ran out of steam, as we had
had to make so many tackles. They were very
good at passing and running hard with the ball
which meant that we couldn’t keep them out for
ever. With the final score 10-3 we can still be
proud of how we fought to the end and never
gave up.
U9 D lost 7-9
Tries: Aadil Bhudia x 2, Kayden Wilkinson x 2,
Ashok Rodrigo x 2, Rahul Pau x 1
MOM: Krish Patel
A very evenly contested match, especially in the
first half which ended with the scores level at
four tries each. In a tough second half Caldicott
pulled away but St John’s never gave up and
pleasingly scored the last try of the match. We
ran very well with the ball and the support for the
man in possession was excellent, showing how
much progress we have made. Well done to
everybody!

Rugby - MTS Colts A Tournament
Scrummers’ Cup on Saturday 7th February
It was our first match since December and we
did take a little time to get back into to contact
and rucking. However, the ball movement was
very good at times. With a number of injuries, it
was great to have a big squad and everyone
played their part. The squad: Zev Stonefield,
William Robinson, Aaron Meghani, Ben
Macdonald, Daniel Odejinmi, Jordan Hui, Max
Davies, Harry Bridgewater, Michael
Ohio-Ezomo, Sebastian Wynn, Adeel Salam,
Daniel Barnnet, Harjeevan Sandhu and Rohan
Dasgupta. Well done boys!
Game 1 v York House Draw 10-10
Tries: Michael Ohio-Ezomo x 1,
Harry Bridgewater x 1
York House tackled very well and had one very
good player. We didn’t start very strongly and
let ourselves be out- rucked at times. We had
the possession and chances but needed to
defend better. Michael and Harry scored to
tries but York House broke away in the last play
of the game to make it two scores each.
Game 2 v Lincroft Lost 0-10
Lincroft defended very strongly. We enjoyed
some good possession but did not react quickly
enough at the turn over and Lincroft scored.
From a scrum we were caught napping and
Lincroft scrum-half ran the length of the field
to score a good individual try.
Game 3 v St Anthony’s Won 15-0
Tries: Michael Ohio-Ezomo x 2,
Harry Bridgewater x 1
We played some very good rugby, off loading
before contact and out of contact very well. We
ran St Anthony’s around the pitch and
dominated possession. Michael and Harry
showed very good awareness to score.

Rugby - MTS Colts A Tournament
Game 4. 5th and 6th place play-off v Orley Farm Won 25-0
Tries: Daniel Odejinmi x 4, Daniel Barnett x 1
We played very well with Daniel showing his strength and
running in 4 tries. We spread the ball wide and both Daniels enjoyed the
open spaces. The last try was a fantastic effort with Harry taking an inside line from a scrum, making half a break and popping a pass out of
contact to Daniel, who made an excellent supporting run back on the
inside of Harry and score. It was an excellent performance, especially
from Daniel Odejinmi scoring 4 tries.
Mr Robinson was particularly delighted to meet Jacques Burger,
Saracens player, who presented the medals. You may also spot old boy,
Joe Salkeld, amongst the referees. He is training to be a referee as his
sports option in Year 11 at MTS this term and, yes, he really is that big!

Hockey
v York House Wednesday 11th February
U12 A Won 2-1
Goals: Harry Whistler x 1, Andrew Holt x 1
MOM: Shiv Parmar and Krish Patwal
This was arguably our best performance of the season so far and it was
all the more special with the team missing four regular squad members.
This meant that we had to play as a team and support each other when
we were in possession, move the ball around more and keep the ball
away from the opposition. York House fielded their under 13 A team
against us so we knew that it was going to be tough; this didn’t stop us
from playing with confidence and poise. It was a very evenly contested
first half with both teams passing the ball around and working it into
the the D, creating chances. The midfield did well to get the ball up to
Harry Whistler who came close a couple of times before slotting one
away. At half time the game was finely balanced at 1-1 and it was a
game that could have easily gone either way. However, our superior
defence meant that York House rarely got a chance to score, but when
they did goalkeeper Jack Grimes was more that up to the challenge. St
John’s made the breakthrough when a ball played into the D from the
right was directed into the goal by Andrew Holt. 2-1 up with ten
minutes to play meant we couldn’t sit back and defend, we had to keep
playing. It was an outstanding team performance and a well deserved
win against older opposition.
U12 B won 6-0
Goals: Ryhan Patel x 2, Matt Cohen x 1,
Anand Shah x 3
MOM: Anand Shah
From the outset St. John’s dominated possession and York House
struggled to make much headway in the game. St. John’s made good
use of the space and peppered the York House goal with shots.
Inevitably the pressure began to tell and goals began to accumulate.
Ryhan Patel had an excellent game and was impressively nimble at
close quarters in the ‘D’, which enabled him to score two goals.
Further goals were scored by Matt Cohen and Anand Shah, who, on
account of his outstanding effort in the match and his three goals, was
also the man of the match.
The game was a useful experience for the boys and all of them
acquitted themselves well.

St John’s Beaumont Tournament
Wednesday 11th February
1st VII 7th overall
MOT: Joshua Ogunnaike and Joe Rich
We started well and played some very good teams. Overall a very good learning experience.
The 1st VII squad: Daniel Zarach, Joshua Ogunnaike, Temide Johnson, Shore Ojutiku, Sam Bickerstaff,
Adam Hart, Alex Shaikh, Sarthak Panvelkar and Joe Rich.
Game 1 v The Beacon Won 22-0
Tries: Adam Hart x 2, Joshua Ogunnaike x 2, Shore Ojutiku x 1 conversion
A very good start and we scored some very good team and individual tries. Our defence was excellent
and we managed to stop the Beacon from scoring any points against us. The forward and backs
combined well and Joshua Ogunnaike and Adam Hart scored some excellent tries.
Game 2 v Summer Fields Lost 15-24
Tries: Adam Hart x 1, Joshua Ogunnaike x 2
This was an exciting game with both sides scoring on regular occasions throughout the match.
The St. John’s defence put a great deal of pressure on the opposition and it was only a quick break away
from Summer Fields that they scored the first try. Each side had chances and again Joshua Ogunnaike
and Adam Hart scored some good tries. Joe Rich was excellent at half-back and he was ably supported
by the other players in the side.
Game 3 v Shiplake Lost 5-26
Tries: Joshua Ogunnaike x 1
The score may suggest this was very much a one sided match but the St. John’s side played very well and
it was noticeable they had improved. Shiplake College had one player who caused most of the damage
but the side never gave up and the try they scored was an excellent team effort.
Game 4 v Shrewsbury House Lost 12-26
Tries: Adam Hart x 1, Joshua Ogunnaike x 1, Joshua Ogunnaike x1 conversion
Although we had some bigger and faster players, Shrewsbury House kept the ball very well and moved
the ball all around the pitch. They even stopped Joshua Ogunnaike in full flight when he only had one
player to beat. They just kept the ball more than us and in the end this proved to be the difference
between the two sides.
Game 5 v St John’s Beaumont Lost 5-36
Tries: Shore Ojutiku x 1
After just finishing our last match we were right on and St. John’s Beaumont proved just a little too
strong for us in this match. However, we scored an excellent try where the ball moved through the hands
and Shore Ojutiku powered his way over the try line. Game 6 v Cranmore was not played because they
didn’t have enough fit players so we were given the victory.

St John’s Beaumont Tournament
Wednesday 11th February Colts VII 7th overall
Game 4 v The Beacon Won 28-7
MOT: Whole squad - a fantastic effort.
Tries: Daniel Barnett x 1, Michael Ohio-Ezomo x 2, Daniel
Odejinmi x 1, Harry Bridgewater x 4 conversions
A really pleasing performance in our first sevens tournament.
With a number of boys playing in their first sevens tournament,
we needed the first two or three matches really to learn how to
play. I am so pleased with the way the boys finished the
tournament, they all showed great commitment and spirit; they
tackled strongly, chased down breaks in pairs and three and
work extremely hard for each other. The pace machines of
Michael Ohio-Ezomo, Matt Crow and Daniel Barnet really
enjoyed the open spaces and started to learn how to use the
space better in every match. Mr Russo was so impressed with
every boy in the squad. A fantastic effort and he can’t wait to
get training for our next tournament. Well done Colts A.
Game 1 v Kings House Lost 0-21
Kings House were very well organised and had some express
pace. We didn’t spread wide enough and missed some key
tackles but we learnt quickly from our first 7-a-side match.
Game 2 v Shrewsbury House Lost 0-28
Shrewsbury House made it to the finals. They were very well
drilled and a very strong team. We battled hard in the first half
but Shrewsbury House was just too strong for us.
Game 3 v St Columba’s Lost 14-28
Tries: Daniel Odejinmi x 1, Michael Ohio-Ezomo x 1,
Harry Bridgewater x 2 conversions
After not having scored a try and losing heavily against St
Columba’s, things were not looking good. St. Columba’s had
the downhill in the first half and put us under lots of pressure.
We passed the ball well and moved the ball around the pitch
nicely. However, when St Columba’s won the ball, they scored
quickly. Unfortunately Sebastian and Harry collided into each
other trying to make a tackle which resulted in Sebastian
injuring himself and St Columba’s scoring. In the second half,
Daniel scored an excellent try, combining well with Jordan.
Michael broke away to score a great try. Harry was very unlucky
not to be awarded a penalty or try and St. Columba’s managed
to run away and score right at the end. A close game against a
team that made it to the finals.
14
16
An excellent team performance – the boys showed some real
spirit both in defence and attack. The Beacon moved the ball
nicely and broke away a few times but we covered very well.
Matt Crow and Daniel Barnet chased, tackled and won the ball
which relieved a lot of pressure. Daniel Odejinmi and Jordan
Hui made some very powerful tackles. The spirit shown not to
concede a try was fantastic! Michael scored two fantastic tries
and made some excellent attacking runs.
Game 5 v Cranmore Won 28-0
Tries: Michael Ohio-Ezomo x 2, Daniel Odejinmi x 1, Matthew
Crow x 1, Harry Bridgewater x 4 conversions
In our last group match we showed some real flair, keeping the
ball and moving it quickly into space. We scored some excellent
team and individual tries. Cranmore struggled to keep up with
the pace of the game: an excellent team performance!
Play-off match v St John's Beaumont Won 28-7
Tries: Matthew Crow x 2, Michael Ohio-Ezomo x 2, Harry
Bridgewater x 4 conversions
Wow! My favourite match. We scored off the kick-off, but
Beaumont moved the ball around nicely and had a very
deceptive runner and scored quickly. We scored again very
quickly. The game was very open but we defended superbly.
Beaumont kept attacking and we kept them out. In the second
half we passed the ball well and created space, scoring two
fantastic tries. Beaumont put us under a lot of pressure but we
tackled very well and kept them out, despite a series of 4
penalties in a row against us. Fantastic tackling!
5th & 6th position play-off match v The Beacon Won 14-7
Tries: Harry Bridgewater x 1, Michael Ohio-Ezomo x 1, Harry
Bridgewater x 2 conversions
This was a very tight and close match. All the boys were
extremely tired. We moved the ball around very nicely and
made breaks but struggled to score. The Beacon broke away to
score a very good try. We kept the Beacon under pressure and
near their line and Harry wrestled the ball away from his
opposite number and evaded two defenders to crash over for a
try. In the last play of the game, Michael made an excellent run,
going around and over a number of tacklers before breaking
through the line and racing away to score. An excellent team
performance.

Year 3 boys have been very busy finishing off their
Egyptian pharaoh collars and they are looking really
beautiful. They are very excited because after half
term they will begin making Egyptian cats.
At the moment, the art department is full of
completed Roman shields which are all different
and they look very authentic. Year 4 has started to
make daggers and, combined with the shields, they
are beginning to look like proper legionnaires.
The boys in Year 5 have now finished their
aboriginal paintings. They have carefully cut out a
boomerang using the equipment in the DT room
and are now painting them using the dot technique.
A big thank you to Mr Watts for all his help.
Year 6 boys have been having fun with their
Matisse cut outs. They have realised it is not as easy
as it seems but they are progressing well and they
are looking lovely and colourful.
