Stephen Baldridge On Podium At O.Y.W.A. State Tournament

Stephen Baldridge, a 6 grade wrestler for the Holmes Area Wrestling Club elementary ‘Attack Team, had a great
day Sunday, February 15 placing fourth at the ‘2015 Ohio Youth Wrestling Association State Championship
Tournament’ held at Firestone High School in Akron, Ohio.
Baldridge finished his first ever O.Y.W.A. state tournament appearance with a 3 – 2 mark at 150 lbs. Baldridge
opened his tournament with a fall win in the championship round of 16, then scored a 3 – 2 decision victory to
move into the championship semifinals.
Baldridge was knocked into the consolation bracket after suffering a loss by fall, but rebounded in the consolation
semifinals with a 5 – 3 decision win. Facing Ben Vanadia (Brecksville) in the third-place match, Baldridge had a
tough match losing by a 5 – 0 decision to wrap up his tournament.

Varsity Tri-Meet and JV Tournament Only Action For West Holmes Wrestling This Week
The West Holmes wrestling program has another light week coming up.
The Knights high school wrestling team will get back on the mats Wednesday, February 18 when they travel to
River View High School in Warsaw, Ohio for a pair of dual meets against the host Black Bears and against New
Philadelphia High School beginning at 6:00 p.m.
In last years match-ups, the Knights downed River View 53 – 22, but lost to the Quakers by a 42 – 27 count.
The W.H.H.S. junior varsity wrestlers complete they’re season Saturday, February 21 battling in the ‘2015
Generals Junior Varsity Invitational Tournament’ at Wooster High School in Wooster, Ohio. Wrestling begins at
9:00 a.m.

Former Knights Wrestlers Rohskopf Breaks Losing Steak, Struggles Continue For Cox and Miller
It was a week of mixed results for former West Holmes High School wrestlers on the college mats.
2013 Knights graduate Max Rohskopf (Soph., North Carolina State University) broke his four-match winless
streak Saturday, February 14 as the No. 22 ranked NCAA Division I 165 lbs. grappler scored a 3 – 2 decision
victory over Cody Weircioch (University of Pittsburgh) to help the No. 25 ranked Wolfpack upset the No. 14
ranked Panthers in an Atlantic Coast Conference dual held at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Rohskopf, a three-time state placer for the Knights (3 in 2013, 7 in 2012 and 2011) and a four-time state
qualifier is now 23 – 10 on the season.
Rohskopf will get back on the mats Thursday, February 19 when the No. 25 ranked Wolfpack faces the No. 13
ranked University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia before wrapping up the dual meet season Sunday,
February 22 at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, North Carolina when N. C. State hosts No. 7 ranked Oklahoma
State University.
Two of the three former Knights wrestling at Muskingum University – Caleb Cox and Grayson Miller – were in
action Tuesday, February 10 when the Muskies faced John Carroll University in Ohio Athletic Conference dual
meet action in Cleveland, Ohio.
Unfortunately, it was much the same for the freshman as it’s been all season, as both Cox and Miller lost by fall.
Cox (174 lbs.) was stopped at 3:40 by the Blue Streaks Matt Tusick, while Miller (285 lbs.) lost to Todd Gaydosh
at the 4:05 mark.
Zach Mullet (197 lbs.), Cox’s and Miller’s fellow 2013 W.H.H.S. graduate and high school teammate, did not
wrestle for the Muskies in the dual against John Carroll.
The winless Muskies wrap up the O.A.C. season Tuesday, February 17 when they travel to Ada, Ohio to face
Ohio Northern University.
