This tank shows all the signs of having formerly been a HMC with the Japanese Type 91 howitzer. The wider aperture cut in the
mantlet to accommodate the howitzer has been plated over and either a plain tube or a 76mm gun M1 (from an M18?) installed

M10 GMC – Fort Lee U.S. Army Ordnance Museum, VA (USA)
Serial Number 6196 (USA AFVs register). This vehicle was transferred from Aberdeen Proving Ground MD, to Fort Lee VA (USA)
Used by US forces in Europe between 1944 and 1945. After the war, it was turned over to the Italian Army and used for several
years,” and then donated to the Ordnance Museum in 1967, according to the Ordnance Museum Guide CD. The Ordnance Museum
Guide CD (and the draft 1990s Official Ordnance Museum Guidebook) claims that “the 3-inch gun on this, and other Italian M10s, were
shortened by the Italian authorities and a counterweight collar was added to restore balance.” However, only two other similar Italian
examples (in Cassino and Monte Lungo) have been found (out of many others in Italy without shortened barrels), and it appears
more likely that the shortened barrel and collar is the result of demilitarization (USA AFVs register). This vehicle is stored and is
currently not visible
