AN LCPC IDENTITY CRISIS?
Presentations and Discussion Groups
9-11 AM
This presentation will have several parts. Our association’s lobbyists, Julia Pitcher Worchester, JD
and Ellin Nolan, will discuss how Maryland counselors can advocate for the professional identity
they wish to assume in their state. They will overview the process of advocacy from the state and
federal perspective and discuss how professional
perspectives can be incorporated into law, sometimes without transparency or vigorous debate.
Larry Epp, President, and Michael Reeder, Advocacy Chair, will discuss the risks of the CACREPonly position for Maryland Counselors and overview recent advocacy efforts. They will organize
the audience into focus groups to discuss what they
think the professional identity of Maryland Counselors should be and how each audience member can
play a role through advocacy in shaping the future
of our profession.
