WELCOME
By the time this programme starts, the awards season
will be over, but we are still bringing you plenty of
nominees and winners, as well as another chance
to see last summer’s superb Boyhood and more
screenings of our recent sell-out films. We are delighted
that the SWCHS sixth form jazz band will play for
you before both screenings of Whiplash (JK Simmons
is odds-on to win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar)
so come along at 7.30pm and enjoy the music.
After our highly successful launch in Ickleton we
have two further Pop-up screenings – in Whittlesford
and Linton – and we will shortly be announcing
more events to the south of Saffron Walden.
The Easter holidays bring a packed programme of films
and Special Events for kids and adults, including Felix,
part of the South Africa at 20: The Freedom Tour.
CONTACT US
We are hoping that screenwriter Ol Parker will also
be able to attend one of the screenings of The Second
Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Follow us on Facebook
or Twitter or check our website for the latest news.

DIRECTOR J C Chandor
CAST Oscar Isaac, Jessica Chastain, David Oyelowo, Albert Brooks
SCREEN TEST Despite its title, this scintillating, atmospheric drama from writerdirector Chandor (All Is Lost) builds the tension rather than the violence. Isaac stars as Abel

SCREEN TEST James Bond meets Kick-Ass in this exhilarating, hugely violent,
outrageous and entertaining spy pastiche. A super-secret spy organisation recruits an

endearing adaptation of a Thomas Pynchon novel. Doc stumbles through a web of
conspiracy with corrupt cops, heroin smugglers, dentists and a mysterious organisation
known only as The Golden Fang. Anderson (There Will Be Blood) directs a slow-burning
noir, soaked in neon and smoke, injected with colour and heart. (2014 USA 149 mins)

DIRECTOR Peter Strickland
CAST Sidse Babett Knudsen, Chiara D’Anna, Eugenia Caruso, Monica Swinn
SCREEN TEST Eccentric British auteur Strickland’s third film is an intimate love story
between two women woven around pretty underwear, solid oak Gothic furniture and their

densely layered portrayal of a complicated relationship which emerges as a surprisingly
tender romance between two people who fear losing each other.
