The Black Alliance for Educational Options Announces Jacqueline Cooper as Interim President Washington, DC -‐-‐ The Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO) has named Jacqueline Cooper to serve as its interim president. Cooper previously served as BAEO’s chief of staff, and was responsible for aligning the strategic priorities of the Board with operational activities while ensuring smooth operation of the organization. “Being able to help lead an organization that I love as interim president is both an honor and a privilege,” said Cooper. “I am particularly excited about our upcoming BAEO Symposium 2015. We will be celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Symposium and hope to inform, inspire and empower you! And we are really looking forward to a special recognition of Ken Campbell as the longest serving president of BAEO and of Dr. Howard Fuller as he passes the Board chair baton to Mashea Ashton.” Prior to being named chief of staff, Cooper served as the director of strategic initiatives for BAEO from 2008 to 2012, a role in which she designed and implemented a management system that clarified strategy, optimized data, achieved vertical and horizontal alignment and linked strategy to operations. For the past six years, Cooper has directed BAEO’s Annual Symposium, the largest gathering of Black parental choice and education reform supporters in the nation. “Jacqueline’s institutional knowledge and passion for BAEO’s mission will help ensure our important work continues uninterrupted during this leadership transition,” said Mashea Ashton, BAEO Board chair-‐elect. “The Board is confident that BAEO is in good hands while we conduct a thorough search for a new permanent president.” Cooper has over 20 years of experience in finance, marketing, business administration and management, including roles at JP Morgan Chase and as an independent entrepreneur. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Bryn Mawr College and an MBA in finance and accounting from New York University’s Stern School of Business, and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and Jack and Jill of America Inc.
