Karimnagar: To improve the
quality of higher education, semester system is likely to be
introduced in graduation
courses. To introduce this
method from the academic
year 2015-16, the Council of
Higher Education had already
prepared the syllabus.
In the first phase, the semester examinations will be introduced for B.Com students. In
this connection, orders were
reportedly sent to all universities regarding the syllabus and
semester method. Receiving
the orders, the Satavahana
University is about to arrange
a meeting with the Principals
of private degree colleges to
discuss on the syllabus.
In this system, a total of six
semester examinations will be
conducted in a three-year degree course with two semester
examinations every year. According to the new method, in
the first year degree course,
there will be first and second
semester examinations, in the
second year degree course
there will be third and fourth
semester examinations and in
the final year there will be fifth
and sixth semester examinations. From first to fourth semesters, there will be four sub-
Telugu actor
Akash joins TRS
Chennai: Telugu actor Jai
Akash, who starred in films like
“Anandam" and "Ready," has
joined Telangana Rashtra
Samithi (TRS). He has no plans
to leave acting. "I've officially
joined TRS party. I'd like to juggle between politics and films,
so I have no plans of quitting acting. "The TRS government is
planning to set up a film township and I'd like to do my bit to
be part of it.
Whatever we do, it should
benefit the industry," Akash told
IANS Sunday. Senior TRS leader
Naini Narasimha Reddy welcomed Akash into the party.
jects per each semester with
50 marks each and for fifth to
sixth semesters there will be
six subjects per each semester
with 50 marks each. In the first
phase, this method is proposed
to be introduced to B.Com and
Computer course students. A
total of 1400 marks are allotted
for 28 examinations. For each
examination of 50 marks 3
hours of time will be given.
However, there are some
doubts on the implementation
of this new method for graduation. At present, this method
is being implemented for Engineering courses. But there is
an exemption for the first year
engineering students. The
main reason for this is the delay in EAMCET counselling.
The admissions will be going
on up to the middle of the academic year.
So, the semester method is
from the second year for engineering students. For other degree courses, this method is
likely to be introduced from
the first year itself. But even in
graduation courses, the admissions will be taking place till
the middle of the academic
year. Some students who fail
to secure admission in engineering and D.Ed courses prefer the degree courses in the
last minute.

Make sure your wallet is full if you
have any plans to attend the Tiru

Seetha Ramachandra Swamy at
Bhadrachalam, widely known as
Dakshin Ayodhya.
The crass commercialisation
that has pervaded the temples in
the country has also caught the
Bhadradri temple management.
Barely a couple of months ago,
the temple authorities doubled
the prices of various puja and seva
tickets. Then the authorities reasoned that hundi collections and
other sources of revenue were not
enough to meet the maintenance
costs of the temple.
If this was not enough, the temple authorities have come up with

Farmers block
road for water
OUR BUREAU
Khammam: Farmers of Kotha Kothur village staged a demonstration
on the Khammam-Kodad road near Nandigama Branch Canal Cross,
two kilometres away from Nelakondapalli mandal headquarters in
Khammam district, demanding release of water to save their crops
from drying. The farmers, who squatted on the road, said that despite
their pleas to release water from Palair Balancing Reservoir to
Nandigama Branch Canal, the Nagarjunasagar Project (NSP) authorities
were indifferent. As a result, the rabi crop paddy was on the verge of
drying, they said.
“If the water is not released immediately, all our hopes of rabi will
be dented,” the farmers lamented. Traffic came to a grinding halt for
about half-an-hour. However, the police, who swang into action, restored the traffic by pacifying the farmers.
Bhadradri Lord’s darshan turns dearer
OUR BUREAU
KTR, Harish lay
stones for
several works
Rama scheduled to take place on
March 28. Moreover, the space
left for ordinary devotees, who
couldn’t afford to spend on
Kalyanam ticket, was little with
lion’s share of space at the Mithila
Stadium, where Lord’s celestial
marriage is to performed, allotted
to rich and affluent. Going by the
stats of the ticket pricing and
number, the space allotted for the
free darshan of the Lord could accommodate about 15,000 devotees against its capacity of around
35,000. The price of 1,250 couple’s ticket which was Rs 3,016 last
year has been increased to Rs
5,000 numbering.
The much-sought after 1,425
VVIP tickets that were priced Rs
2,000 last year has been increased
to Rs 3,000.Besides this, the temple authorities decided to sell 977
tickets of Rs 1,116; 1,500 tickets of
Rs 500; 7,598 tickets of Rs 200
and 6,032 tickets of Rs 100. It may
be mentioned here that the temple administration failed to earn
huge revenues last year due to
lack of demand for the Kalyanam
tickets. Speaking to The Hans India on Monday, the temple executive officer K Jyothi said that the
temple is offering Sachitra Ramayan, Ramadasu Keertan, sari
and pancha, Mutyala Talambralu
and four meals tickets to devotees
who buy couple’s tickets.
When asked about the last
year’s failure to sell all the tickets,
the EO denied to comment stating that she was not the official
then. However, she expressed
confidence that the improved facilities and quality of service
would attract the devotees. Meanwhile, sources in the temple said
that
there
may
be an increase in the price of
prasadams too.
