17
Upgrading From MET/TRACK
• Have a realistic “go live” date in mind
– Are we migrating past data?
– Who needs training on the product?
– Do we need an acclimatization period to get familiar with the new
software?
• Become familiar with the MET/TEAM Installation Guide
– Found in the MET/TEAM disc
– Understand the hardware and software requirements
• Find out the resources required to aid with the transition
– IT groups (e.g., DBA, Server, Workstation)?
– Other departments (accounting or property)?
– Fluke?
©2015 Fluke Corporation.
18
Data Migrations – Best Practices
• Look at your current MET/TRACK data and find things to
“clean up”
– Correct inconsistent data, focusing on
• Manufacturers, Model Numbers, Descriptions
• Owners (Departments)
– Delete ‘old’ and no longer required data
– Identify the data and its purpose for nondescript or custom fields
– Do you need to migrate the entirety of your cal result data?
• All
• Latest
• None
• Is MET/TRACK the only data I need?
– Possible post migration import of other data
©2015 Fluke Corporation.
19
Upgrading From MET/TRACK
• Testing
– Run a few items thru in parallel to current processes
– Test as many situations as possible
• MET/CAL calibrations
• Manual calibrations
• Vendor or Subcontractor calibrations
– Gain several perspectives
• End users
• Management
©2015 Fluke Corporation.
20
Upgrading From MET/TRACK
• Report Conversion
–
–
–
–
All current reports will need to be converted
Takes some effort but is opportunity to clean up and combine
MET/TEAM Help file includes tutorial
Easier to make a MET/TEAM report look like an old report than
vice versa
– Calibration labels are reports too!
– The following book useful for general Crystal Reports info…
ISBN 978-0-07-159098-3

21
On Site CIT – How to Prepare
• Reserve a conference room with a video projector
• Have laptops available for the students
– Allows everyone to participate in exercises
• Keep your IT department in the loop
– Installation and customization often requires permission changes
and information that your IT group can provide
• Know which reports you want to bring over to MET/TEAM
– Print out example reports to help illustrate what you want
– Review stock reports supplied with MET/TEAM and make note
of which ones are applicable to you, which are not, and which
ones need to be created.

22
Alerting & Recall Escalation
How does it work?
©2015 Fluke Corporation.
23
Alerting – Automated recall reports
• We currently have two Crystal reports….
– Recall-Alerting.rpt
• Start date* – today
• End date* – today + 28 days
* Both are editable formula fields in the report
– Recall-Alerting-Delinquent.rpt
• Includes all dates up until yesterday
• These reports can be modified to include your logos,
formatted to include same data in same order. Again, use
the power of crystal to make the reports as you wish
©2015 Fluke Corporation.
24
Alerting – Set one up
• Configure in Reports  Alerting Schedules
©2015 Fluke Corporation.
25
Alerting – Set one up, parameters
• Set up the parameters via
the ellipse…
– The parameter “nFacilityUID”
is special, check box means,
let alerting automatically fill it
in based on the contact
©2015 Fluke Corporation.
26
Alerting – Set one up, schedule
• Add a schedule…
– Lots of flexibility, options change based on the “Period” selected
• Hours are based 24 hour clock (1:00 PM would be 1300)
©2015 Fluke Corporation.
27
Alerting – Set one up, Contacts
• Look at a contact to
understand the
nFacilityUID
parameter
– Note the four
facilities on the
bottom that Bill is
related to
©2015 Fluke Corporation.
28
Alerting – Set one up, Contacts
• MET/TEAM’s alerting will attempt to send reports to Bill’s
email address, for each of these facilities. One report for
each Alert. So if both recall and delinquent were to be
run on the same day, he would get two emails each
containing the appropriate number of attachments…
– The MET/TEAM alerting engine will get a list of all the facilities a
contact is associated with
– Then for each facility the report will be run
– If the report contains one or more rows of data, it will be saved
as a .pdf file and attached the email
– If the report does NOT contain data, nothing is saved or added
to the email.
– The steps above are repeated for each facility.
– When finished with all the contact’s facilities, if the email has any
attachments, it is sent, otherwise the email is discarded

35
Procedure Sectioning Preview
• What is the Procedure Sectioning feature?
– Allows specific sections of a MET/CAL procedure to be optionally skipped
– Each section can consist of one or more tests
– Supports nesting up to 4 levels deep
• Benefits of using Sectioned Procedures
– Perform some tests on one workstation, other tests on another workstation
– Not all standards are available
• Workstation configuration requirements are based on selected sections only
– Repeat specific tests without having to run the entire procedure
• Limitations
– Procedure section “tags” are only supported in a single procedure within
the project
– Only supported in PXEs
©2015 Fluke Corporation.
36
Procedure Sectioning
• How do I implement the Procedure Sectioning feature in a procedure?
–
Step 1 – Surround sections that users may elect to skip over with “start” and “end” labels
• Recommendations:
• Prefix each start label
with START_ and each
end label with END_ , or
• Postfix each start label
with _START and each
end label with _END
• Or you can implement
any label syntax you
want
–
Any procedure
statements not “tagged”
will always execute!
©2015 Fluke Corporation.
37
Procedure Sectioning
• How do I implement the Procedure Sectioning feature in a procedure? (cont.)
–
Step 2 – Add procedure section “tags” to the procedure at every start label
• Tags are simply specially formatted comment statements
• Position cursor on a line containing a start label for a section
• Select Edit  Insert Procedure Section Tag or press Alt+T
• Tag comments automatically inserted above start label
• Automatically populates Tag.Start and Tag.End
values if recommended syntax was used
• Tags can be manually entered also
©2015 Fluke Corporation.
38
Procedure Sectioning
• How do I implement the Procedure Sectioning feature in a procedure? (cont.)
–
Step 3 – Populate the value of each tag:
• * Tag.Name: Give this section a “friendly” name
• * Tag.Start: Name of the start label in the procedure for this section
• * Tag.End: Name of the end label in the procedure for this section
• Tag.Prerequisites: Indicate the name of other sections that must be run in order for this section to
complete successfully
• Tag.Description: Give this section a brief description
• Tag.ExecutionTimeInMinutes: Indicate the estimated time to perform the test(s) in this section
• Tag.Notes: Any additional notes about this section
• Tag.HasOperatorPrompts: Indicate whether or not this section may prompt the operator for a response
• Tag.IsRequired: Indicate whether the test(s) in this section are required to consider the instrument fully
calibrated
* = Required; all other tags are optional and may be omitted.

Procedure Sectioning
• How do I implement the Procedure Sectioning feature in a procedure? (cont.)
–
Step 4 – Publish the project as a PXE
•
Set Publish file type to pxe in Project  Properties  Package settings
•
Select Build  Publish Package… or press Alt+P

40
Running Sectioned Procedures
• Procedures that implement this feature display the MET/CAL Procedure Tag
Selector dialog when procedure is run
• Unselect the sections to skip over
• Prerequisite sections are selected
automatically
• Red highlight indicates required sections
• Viewing results in MET/TEAM
– Partial calibrations
• The Selector dialog can be disabled to
force the procedures to run in their
entirety.
