Engineering Entrance Exams Engineering Entrance Test Brief: Engineering Entrance Exams have always been the hot choice for millions of higher secondary students, who dream to pursue attractive careers in Engineering. Most of the national as well as state level Engineering Entrance Tests like JEE (Main & Advanced), IIITs, NITs, CFTIs and for other Engineering Colleges of India, are held in the months of April / May / June for the academic year starting from July / August of the following year. The Ministry of Human Resource & Development (MHRD), Govt. of India directed in 2013 to conduct combined entrance tests called Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) for all IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other State & IIT-JEE affiliated Engineering colleges in India. The JEE has been divided into two phases: JEE (Main) – A common entrance test for admission to undergraduate degree programs in India's government as well as private Engineering / Science Institutions/ Colleges/ Universities, and the screening test for the IITs. JEE (Advanced) – This is conducted for the admission into the very coveted IITs after JEE (Main). Scheme of Exams: JEE (Main): There is one paper in this exam, which contains 90 questions; 30 questions from each section – Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Each question carries 4 marks with a total 360 marks. There is ¼ negative marking, means 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. JEE (Advanced): There are two papers in this exam. Each paper contains 60 questions. Each section – Physics, Chemistry and Maths contains 20 questions. Each question carries 3 marks with a total 180 marks. There is also negative marking in some sections of this paper. VITEEE: In the Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam, there are 3 parts –Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / Biology. Each part contains 40 questions with equal weightage. The total number of questions is 120. Each question carries one mark with a total 120 marks. BITS-Pilani: In BITSAT entrance test, there is one paper containing 4 parts. Physics in part-I contains 40 questions; Chemistry in part-II also contains 40 questions; part-III contains three sub-sections: (a) English Proficiency-15 questions & (b) Logical Reasoning-10 questions; Mathematics in part-IV contains 45 questions. Total no of questions is 150, each question carries 3 marks with a total 450 marks. Number of Subjects in the Qualifying Examination - Candidates must have taken at least five subjects i.e. (1-Language, 2-Physics, 3-Mathematics, 4-Any one of the (subjects—Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical & Vocational Subjects), 5-Any other subject) in class 12th / qualifying examination in order to be eligible for writing JEE (Advanced) - 2015. With at least 45% (40% in reserved category) marks in above subjects taken together. 4. Academic Qualification - The candidate must have passed in final examination of Class 12th or other qualifying examination. Those appearing in these examinations in 2015 can also appear in JEE (Advanced) - 2015 provisionally. 5. Qualifying Examination (QE) - Admission to IITs and ISM Dhanbad will be based only on category wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE (Advanced)-2015 subject to the condition that such candidates are among the top 20 percentile of successful candidates of their Boards in respective categories. PwD candidates will be given relaxation in the eligibility criteria as per the decision of the Joint Admission Board of JEE (Advanced)-2015. Admission for Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, Other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other Institutions shall include the performance in the class 12/equivalent qualifying Examination and in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main). BITSAT is a Computer based online test for Admission to Integrated First Degree Programmes of BITS Pilani Campuses in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. A candidate can apply online only once for BITSAT. About (BITS)-Pilani The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani is an all India Institution declared as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act. This is also called BITSAT, which is a Computer based online test for Admission to Integrated First Degree Programs of BITS Pilani Campuses in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. ‘Computer Based Online test’ means the candidate sits in front of a computer and the questions are presented on the computer monitor and the candidate answers the questions on the computer through the use of keyboard or mouse. Each computer is connected to a server, which prepares the question set and delivers it to the candidate on the computer. This is unlike the traditional paper-pencil based test. BITS Merit : However, admissions will be made only on his/her merit based on the score obtained in BITSAT-2015. 4. Only Students who are appearing for class 12th examination in 2015 or who have passed the class 12th examination in 2013 are eligible to appear for BITSAT-2015. While the candidate skips a question, the computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as correct answer. If a candidate answers all the 150 questions (without skipping any question), the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 (twelve) extra questions, if there is still time left. These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics only; four questions from each part. Further, once the candidate has opted for extra questions, he cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 150 questions. The questions are so designed that a good student will be able to answer 150 questions in 180 minutes. The extra questions will give a chance to highly meritorious candidates to score higher. However, candidates should keep in mind the fact that there is negative marking for wrong answers. Candidates should bring a pen for the purpose of rough work, signing etc. Blank sheets for rough work will be provided, if required. Admission Procedure How to ApplyInterested candidates should register their names for BITSAT-2015 by applying in the prescribed application form online. Complete the application form online at http://www.bitsadmission.com and pay the prescribed fees. Also take the print out of the filled form for your future reference. The prescribed fee for BITSAT 2015 is Rs. 2090/-(Rs. 1590/for female candidates). In addition to applying and appearing for BITSAT-2015, candidates have to also apply for admission to BITS giving details of their 12th class marks and preferences to different degree programs offered. The prescribed application form for admission, the detailed application procedure and the final list of Degree programs offered will be available at the BITS website, by 20th May 2015. The completed form with the required application fee has to be submitted so as to reach the under-mentioned on or before 5.00 PM on 30th June 2015. Most Important Point: A candidate can apply online only once for BITSAT. However, if a candidate discovers any mistake in the form submitted by him, he can apply online second time and send a letter to admission office BITS, Pilani mentioning the earlier application number which will be cancelled. In such cases, the second application has to be accompanied by a fresh application fee.
