The 86th Annual Session of the Tennessee Dental Hygienists’ Association
promises to be filled with HOPE; Hygienists Optimistic about the Progression
of Education! Educating ourselves through attending quality continuing education courses and educating others about TDHA’s legislative efforts. This year is
about change. A new location, a variety of registration options, and preparing
for the future of our profession. This weekend is designed with you in mind!
Join us for an exhilarating weekend full of renowned speakers, professional
vendors and do a little shopping in our marketplace! Network with dental hygienists from across
the state and enjoy beautiful downtown Chattanooga!

Hotel Accommodations: Now is the time to make your hotel reservations: Go to
www.chattanooga.doubletree.com. After entering your exact arrival and departure dates on the website,
there is an option to add a special rate code (this option is found in the drop down menu next to the arrow).
Your group code is TDH. The correct rates will pull up and you can continue the reservation process. Call the
hotel directly: 423-756-5150 and give the front desk your date of arrival and the name of your group—TN
Dental Hygienists OR, Call reservations 1-800-222-TREE. Give either your group name or group code and
the dates and they will be able to access our information and make a reservation.
Important: All reservations must be made by - March 19, 2015.
Comfort Zone: Although every effort is made to have a comfortable temperature in the meeting rooms,
we realize individual comfort zones are different. Please bring a jacket or light wrap in case the room happens to
be too cool for your comfort.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Notification of registration cancellation for Annual Session must be made in writing to TDHA. Fees will be refunded for cancellations before April 1, 2015 (a cancellation fee will be applied). No
refunds will be made after April 1, 2015.

As the prevalence of diabetes continues to increase in the United States so too will the number of dental patients
affected by the disease. This program addresses the relationship between oral health complications and diabetes. It is
designed to provide the practitioner with management considerations for the patient with diabetes. An overview of

HPV “It is not the Hanky Panky Virus the Media Says It Is” Oral Abnormality Screening & the (Mis)Understanding of Oral HPV in Healthcare Debbie Z. Sabatini, RDH, BS, BA
New evidence has linked the presence of HPV in an oral mucosal infection to the increase risk of oral cancer.
It has been a challenge in the past to identify those individuals with these risk factors until now. We will discuss
adjunctive oral cancer screening technologies as well as review why oral systemic health and wellness are key
to oxidizing viral infections. We will review the importance of consistently conducting an effective oral abnormality visual “lump, bump & bulge” tactile and screening exam each time all patients are in our care

Tongue analysis is one of the most precious diagnostic methods in Chinese medicine. It is truly astonishing
that the oral systemic connection was recognized 5000 years ago. In integrative dentistry, we look at the
