A 51-year-old Hoopeston man reported at 10:01 a.m.
Sunday that someone damaged his vehicle in the 400
block of West Maple.
No tickets or injuries were reported in an accident at
12;02 p.m. Monday at CVS, 805 S. Dixie Hwy. Police
said Debra K. Merriman, of Hoopeston, in a 2007
Honda van, backed into a 2011 BMW SUV driven by
Jon Mullen, of Danville.
Police said Merriman was at fault for improper backing.
Robin N. Irvin, 34, of Hoopeston, was arrested after
an incident at 6 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of East
Honeywell.
Preliminary charges include aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery after an alleged altercation
with a 71-year-old Hoopeston man. Additionally, she
was wanted on a Vermilion County traffic warrant for
failure to appear.
She was taken to the Public Safety Building, Danville.
Joseph Cannon, of Hoopeston, was ticketed after an
accident at 11:04 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of West
Main.
Angela Lawless, of Ridge Farm, reported that Cannon,
in a 1995 Chevrolet truck, hit her 1995 Nissan.
Cannon was located Monday and charged with reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident with
vehicle damage. He was released on notices to appear in
traffic court.
Fire Calls
Hoopeston Fire Department was called at 1:15 p.m.
Monday to Teasdale Foods, 215 W. Washington, for an
activated fire alarm that turned out to be a false alarm.

Resume support day
Hoopeston Public Library will hold another Resume
Support Day from 2-5 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 25.
Local adults who need assistance in creating a resume
for their job search can receive free assistance from experienced library staff. Participants may come in any time
during the designated hours; no appointments are necessary. Refreshments will also be served. For more information, call the library at 217-283-6711.
The Gathering
“The Gathering,” a monthly meeting of Rossville area
senior citizens, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Rossville Fire Station. All seniors are welcome. The event is
sponsored by Rossville Community Organization.
Ladies’ fitness class
A free, hour long Ladies Only Fitness class will be held
at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays at First Baptist Church of Hoopeston’s gymnasium. We will also hear a devotional from

First Christian Church of Hoopeston invites everyone
to join them for fun and games from 3-6 p.m. Sunday in
the fellowship hall. Board games will be available and

Hoopeston Softball Association has announced signups for girls ages 5-14. Parents may sign up their daughters from 1-3 p.m. February 28 at Hoopeston City Hall;

Draft Day will be April 1, practice begins April 13, and
the parade and opening day will be May 16. Cost is $65
