Fort Frances Mayor ROY Avis
It gives me GREAT pleasure to welcome the players, coaching staff, Branch representatives, hockey dignitaries, officials, parents,
families and friends to our great community.
Fort Frances is proud to have the opportunity to host and be a major sponsor of the 2015 Dudley Hewitt Cup. We want to ensure
that every person has an enjoyable and memorable experience while visiting our community.
Fort Frances is steeped in hockey tradition dating back to the 51-52 Allan Cup, which the Fort Frances Canadians won beating the
Stratford Indians 4 games to 2. Many Fort Frances residents have had stellar hockey successes at many different levels. Our rich
hockey history and overall history will be on display at the Fort Frances Museum and Cultural Centre at 259 Scott Street. Visitors
will have an opportunity to learn about the key role the First Nations and Métis played in our past and present. Your tournament
or game pass will admit you to the Fort Frances Museum and Cultural Centre.
Fort Frances wishes all the players and teams the best of luck! Play hard, play safe and enjoy the tournament and your visit to our
GREAT community.
Sincerely,
Roy Avis

over $750,000 to construct a second ice surface for Fort Frances and
surrounding community. This effort combined with a financial contribution
of approximately $2 million from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund, the
municipality constructed a $6 million addition to our Memorial Arena and
Sportsplex that created the Memorial Sports Centre.

Fort Frances Minor Hockey
