The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is in the process of
acquiring the 700 MW (summer rating) Quantum Choctaw
Power Plant that is located in the Red Hills Ecoplex industrial
park near Ackerman, Mississippi. TVA has purchased power
from the plant since 2007, and it is connected to the TVA
transmission system. Acquiring ownership of the plant rather
than continuing to contract for power from the plant was
determined to be the lowest cost alternative and would give
TVA operational control of the plant. This action is consistent
with TVA’s Integrated Resource Plan.
TVA requests comments on this acquisition. To be considered,
comments must be received no later than 21 days from the
date of publication of this notice. Any comments, including
