Basketball fans and sportswriters throughout the State of Louisiana will be observing all teams that participate in this year’s tournament. It is truly our hope you will stress the importance of displaying good sportsmanship to every participant whether it be player, coach or spectator while in this year’s Boys and Girls State Basketball Championships in Lake Charles. Good player conduct is of utmost importance during the tournament. As you well know, a display of poor sportsmanship by a player or coach can and usually will incite poor crowd behavior and creates problems, not to mention the poor reflection on your school and community. Please be advised that any display of unsportsmanlike conduct by a player(s) or coach(es) will not be tolerated and will be dealt with accordingly; to include but limited to disqualification from the event. Please be reminded the responsibility for player(s) and coach(es) behavior rests with the LHSAA member school’s administrative staff designated for this LHSAA sanctioned event. It is also the expectation of the LHSAA that the school(s) administrator(s) and/or designee(s) will be responsible for supervision of any/all student spectators. I am confident you will accept this responsibility and do all you can to make this event a positive experience for all involved. And as in previous years, basketball goal nets will not be removed, items are not be thrown on the court, and there will not be water or sports drinks poured on the coach and/or coaches during and/or after the games. If not adhered too, this office will be forced to administer disciplinary action. In closing, congratulations to you, your team(s) your school and community for qualifying to participate in the 2014-2015 Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA State Basketball Championships. Best Regards, Eddie Bonine Executive Director LHSAA Once again, let me congratulate you on qualifying to participate in the tournament, and I wish you and your squad the best of luck.
