The ingredient is derived from palm oil and is used instead of tallow or coconut oil. No lye is left behind in the chemical reaction process. Glycerin is a skin-identical ingredient, meaning that it is found naturally in the skin and is readily absorbed. Glycerin is a potent humectant—so potent that it needs to be combined with other ingredients (including water) to avoid drawing moisture from the lower levels of the skin.
