Implementing ICD-10 by October 1, 2015 requires more than your billers
learning the new diagnosis codes. It has far reaching implications for your
technology, your processes and your entire interdisciplinary team. This
workshop will help lead to timely adaptation of your intake,
documentation, QAPI and billing processes.
Why you should attend:
• Insufficient intake information will bring your billing processes to a
screeching halt.
• Conflicts between your clinical documentation and ICD-10 coding
could mean rejected claims.
• The specificity of the new diagnosis code set will demand more
hospice physician involvement.
• It is anticipated that even seasoned ICD-9 Coders will initially take 3
times longer to code in the ICD-10 format.
• Will your EMR be compliant?
Presenter Teresa Northcutt will share her vast experience in this workshop
and her presentation will allow you to:
• Describe why coding knowledge and readiness is essential for the
implementation of ICD-10 Coding
• Identify the differences between ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding structure
• Demonstrate the ICD-10-CM coding conventions & sequencing
• Allow for practice & participation in utilizing ICD-10 coding with
hospice scenarios
This is one of the most significant changes experienced by healthcare
organizations nationwide. Don’t be left in the ICD-9 dust. Register

Manual Requirement
Since there will be hands on practice, it is
imperative that you bring a draft ICD-10-CM
coding manual with you. Do not spend a lot of
money on the current edition as it is in draft form
until the fall. Your staff will need this time to
practice coding in both ICD-9 and ICD-10 now in
order to be proficient come October 1, 2015!
