Registration Information
Enclosed is the registration information for the Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreation Services Adult Soccer program. After
reviewing this information, you may register by:

LEAGUE STRUCTURE: The summer soccer season consists of eight weeks of league play. The league will be
divided into two levels of ability - an upper level and a lower level. Following the regular season, all teams will
participate in playoffs based on league standings. League games are scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday evenings
(maximum of one game per week) with games beginning the week of May 11, 2015. Games will be scheduled to start
as early as 6:10 p.m. and as late as 9:25 p.m.

LEAGUE FEE: The team registration fee is $875. League t-shirts (up to 18 per team) are included in the fee and
will be distributed at the first game.
If desired, teams may split the registration fee into two payments. If choosing this option, a deposit of $300 will be
charged at the time of registration and the remaining $575 will be charged on Friday, April 17th.
There is no individual registration available. Individuals looking for a team may contact the Recreation Services
office at 952-939-8203 to be placed on a list of available players. Names from the list will be passed onto team
managers looking for players to complete their team.
REGISTRATION START DATE: Registration for all new and returning teams begins March 2nd. The registration
deadline is April 17th or until the league fills.
REQUIRED FORMS:
1. Registration Form – Not required for phone registration.
2. Team Roster – Must be submitted to the Recreation Services office by April 17th.
ROSTERS:
•
Teams must submit the official Recreation Services Team Roster form to the Recreation Services office by
4:30 p.m. on April 17th. The Team Roster form is included in the soccer registration packet or can be
downloaded from the city of Minnetonka website: www.eminnetonka.com. The roster form must include
the name, full address, phone number(s), and t-shirt size for each player.
•
Team rosters may have a maximum of 18 players for the $875 league fee. Teams with rosters exceeding 18
players must pay an additional $5 per player (cost of the league t-shirt).
•
Teams not having at least four women on the field at one time must play short one player for every woman
they are short. Keep this in mind when developing your team roster.
•
Only players on a team’s roster will be allowed to participate in league games.

Registration Information
GAME SCHEDULES: League schedules will be emailed to participants the week of April 27th. Games that are rained
out may be rescheduled on any available night, including Fridays. The week of June 29th – July 3rd is also reserved for
make-up games.
WEATHER HOTLINE: In the case of inclement weather, call the Recreation Services Weather Hotline for updates on
the status of the evening’s games. The Weather Hotline # is 952-939-8355.
PLAYOFFS: Standings will be kept for the league and posted weekly on the city of Minnetonka website –
www.eminnetonka.com. All teams will participate in league playoffs based on the final regular season standings.
Gift cards will be awarded to the winners of each division.
CONDUCT VIOLATION POLICY: The following incidents will be assessed a $20 per violation fee:
1. Unannounced Forfeit – To avoid a fee, forfeits must be reported to Ann Davy, Program Manager, by phone
(952-939-8357) or email ([email protected]) by 3 p.m. the day of game.

Players will be notified by Recreation Services if they have been assessed a conduct violation fee. Payment of
the violation fee must be made by 12 p.m. on the team’s next game day.
EQUIPMENT: The league fee includes a team t-shirt (up to 18 per team) which will be distributed at the first league
game.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Participants must be at least 18 years old and out of high school to compete in the outdoor soccer league.
Players who are currently suspended from participating in other sports communities are ineligible to
compete in Hopkins-Minnetonka leagues.
2. The participation of an unrostered player in any league or playoff game will result in forfeiting that game to
the opposing team. The Program Manager shall determine whether other games the player participated in
shall be forfeited also.
3. Opposing managers, as well as Recreation Services, may initiate checks on eligibility. Showing proof of a
player’s identity by photo id may be required at game time.
4. Players can participate on more than one team in the league if the two teams are competing in different
divisions (upper and lower).

Registration Information
LEAGUE RULES: The adult co-rec soccer league will generally follow FIFA rules with the following exceptions:
1. A game consists of two 24-minute halves (running time) with a 5-minute half-time period. Game time is
forfeit time except for the first scheduled game of the evening which will be given a 5-minute grace period.
League referees will still officiate forfeited games.
2. A team must have at least eight players on the field at the scheduled game time in order for the game to be
official.
3. All league participants must wear their league issued t-shirt. Goalkeepers must supply and wear their own
distinct shirt.
4. There is not a set number of women required on the field at a time. However, teams not having at least
four women on the field at one time must play short one player for every women they are short.
5. Substitutions will be allowed only by the referee when the ball is out of play. Players must inform the
referee of their desire to substitute and wait for their acknowledgment.
6. Players must wear shin pads, knee high socks, proper footwear, and the league issued t-shirt during all
games.
7. No sliding tackles will be permitted. Violation of this rule will result in a yellow card.
8. For a game to be official, teams must have completed at least half of the game.
9. This is a recreational league and protests will not be accepted.
10. Participants must be at least 18 years old.
PLAYER CONDUCT:
1. Alcohol/Beer: There shall be no alcoholic beverages, including beer, at any city of Minnetonka parks,
Hopkins School District facilities, or Minnetonka School District facilities. This includes the playing field,
bleachers, and parking lot area. Do not bring alcohol to these locations. The game officials have been
instructed to stop the game until alcohol has been removed from the area, even if it belongs to spectators.
Players may not drink any alcoholic beverages before or during the game. If the umpire detects alcohol on
the breath of a player, the player will be expelled from the game.
2. The conduct of teams playing in Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreation Services leagues must be above
satisfactory. Managers must set examples of fair play and sportsmanship for their players. The HopkinsMinnetonka Player Code of Conduct is as follows: “At no time shall any person lay a hand on, shove, strike,
use abusive language, or threaten an official of the Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreation Department on park or
school property.” Such incidents will require persons to be suspended until the Program Manager considers
the case. Maximum penalty shall be suspension from local league play for one season or up to suspension
for life. The umpire’s authority at a game shall not be questioned. They have been instructed to enforce the
league rules. The umpire has the authority to remove a player, coach, or manager from the game for
violation of the rules. Players removed from the game for unsportsmanlike conduct will not be allowed to
compete in the following game and a $20 conduct violation fee will be assessed. A second ejection from a
game by any one player will result in suspension for the remainder of the season.
3. Profanity on or around the playing field, even casual profanity, is not permitted.
4. Please be respectful of the game facilities and remove all litter from the area surrounding you and your
team before leaving the game site.
