Background
In 1961 Mr. Alfonso García López opened a seafood canning factory that has now
become a large industrial complex in Poio, in the province of Pontevedra, Spain.
CONSERVAS PESCAMAR enjoys an excellent geographical position on the coast of
Galicia, in northwest Spain. The location offers access to a large variety of marine
species, which are carefully processed into premium products with the best quality
and flavor for the consumer. Staying committed to a tradition of quality and
innovation, CONSERVAS PESCAMAR has become a recognized leader in the seafood
canning industry.
Goals & Challenges
As a result of significant growth, better management and utilization of assets had
become a high priority in order to meet the ever increasing production demand. Lack
of consistent and timely information presented a major roadblock. By deploying
TrakSYS™, it was envisioned to:






Provide business systems connectivity (MS Dynamics) for order management.
Facilitate production order planning and scheduling.
Increase throughput and capacity through real-time performance management.
Track raw material consumption and reduce waste.
Improve quality management and eliminate paper from the shop floor.
Provide complete and accurate real-time and historical reports for fact-based
decision making.
TrakSYS™ Solution Approach

Parsec certified partner, ASM Soft consulted, designed, and implemented a fully
turn-key MES solution using TrakSYS™ to meet PESCAMAR’s requirements.

The solution was seamlessly integrated
into the Microsoft Dynamics ERP system.

Using the TrakSYS™ web-based portal,
intuitive user interfaces were designed to
allow the operators to interact with the
system, view real-time information, record
observations, provide feedback, and be
mindful of progress toward meeting
production goals.

ASM provided the required acceptance
testing, training, and documentation to
ensure proper use of the solution and solidify PESCAMAR’s return on investment.

Results
There were many benefits realized with the use of TrakSYS™:

Rapid Deployment — The broad, out-of-the-box features set of TrakSYS
significantly simplified the process of design, integration, deployment, training,
and beneficial use of the solution. The entire process of delivering the project
requirements took less than six months.

Meaningful Change — The clean, effective, and user-friendly interfaces have
made visual management a reality and become a catalyst for affecting a positive
change in behavior that is driving production quality in real time.

Knowledge — Operators are now aware of production issues, progress, and why
the performance KPIs are so important. Consequently, it is now possible to have
an objectives-oriented production strategy.

Quality Management — PESCAMAR is using TrakSYS™ Task Management for
eliminating paper on the shop floor. This has been a significant step in improving
their track-and-trace capabilities, eliminating human errors, and managing
oversight. All of these are of significant importance to PESCAMAR and their global
customers.

Production Management — Interface with ERP, order management, production
planning, performance monitoring, waste reduction, and workflow improvement
have made significant contributions to reducing work in process and the
manufacturing lead time.

Facts-Based Decision Making — The timely and accurate information is enabling
PESCAMAR to get significantly more production capacity from existing assets.
