6 WEEK SUMMER CAMPS - 8:00 am—12:00 pm
All requests for a refund must be submitted in writing to Bernardsville
Recreation seven (7) business days prior to the start of the program
or trip. For all programs, a refund cannot be given if the program has
started. There is a $10.00 fee for each refund. If a program or trip is
cancelled by the Borough, a full refund will be provided. Non residents
are defined as anyone residing outside of Bernardsville.

This program will introduce the basics of field hockey to a beginning player with rules, fitness and basics of the

Girl’s Basketball Camp is designed for the players looking to improve their fundamental skills during the off season. Our
camp curriculum consists of personalized and small group
instruction (5:1 camper to coach ratio) and will focus on
teaching the fundamentals of the game, while also having
FUN! Players will be grouped into teams and experience daily
fundamental skill breakdowns, full court drills, as well as both

Bernardsville Recreation. We are proud of the many
activities and programs offered this summer and hope you
will enjoy them. We have many old favorites returning along
with some new and exciting ones. Please note that we have

accommodate some of your needs. If you have any or

Fencing for Fun (Grades 5th-8th) with Coach Paragano
of Somerset Hills Fencing Club
This is a fun introduction for Fencing. Athletes will learn basic footwork, use actual weapons and learn the rules of this “martial art”. This is a great opportunity to be introduced to, and learn from, an
experienced coach and current competitor. No prior experience is
required. Use of all equipment is included. Come and learn this
growing sport. Bernards High School Fencing Team athletes have
made their mark as NCAA athletes at Ivy League colleges and
quality Universities throughout the USA. By the end of this course,
students will develop sufficient skills to allow them to participate in
basic team fencing activities.

Our Spy Academy will help you sharpen your special operative
skills as you learn about the Secret World of Espionage!
The key to being a great spy is your ability to use science to
“sniff” out your suspects and uncover their secrets. We will utilize spy gear such as metal detectors, spy ears, and
motion sensors to hone our skills. Unlock your spy skill as we
tackle the toughest security breaches. We will “pick open” locks, sneak past a whisper meter and create our own security
system. Teams will attempt to crack through each other’s security systems and track a treasure. This Mad Science Spy

Theater Production with Lynn Weltler
Gymnastics I (Ages 3-5) with Kangaroo Kidz
This three week program is designed for students interested in
the world of theater. Participants will spend a portion of their
day in a workshop style class and the remainder of the day in
rehearsals preparing for a production to be presented the last
day of the session. Classes will include acting, movement,
creating scenic elements, costuming and mask making.
Students will gain skills, knowledge and confidence in
performance and productions while improving their ability to
communicate and work with others.
Preschool age children will do a review of gross motor skills.
We’ll jump like kangaroos, run like cheetahs and gallop like horses. We’ll work on the balance beam, incline mat, bar vaults and more. There will be a craft each day. School age
children will learn beginner and intermediate skills. The
children will learn the basics of all gymnastics events
including tumbling, vaulting bars and beam. Please send

Creative Tile Art/Mosaics with Clay Art 4 Kids LLC
Girls Softball Camp with Coach O’Connor
Mosaics is a beautiful art form that goes back thousands of
years. Paint and create your own tiles, add gemstones,
shells, mirror fragments, glass tiles and more to personalize
your projects. Learn how to make designs and patterns.
Instructor will incorporate fun facts in history, science and
nature as they relate to student’s work. Projects may include tiled picture frames, patterned mirrors, peace signs, letters,
boxes and more. Repeat students are offered alternate
projects.
Our goal is to provide intense instruction in small groups
to Improve basic softball skills and integrate those skills to
game play. Campers will receive hands-on training on the
mechanics of hitting, fielding, throwing, base-running and
position play. The camp will also consist of small games to
introduce advanced skills and strategies of Softball. Each
player will also receive video analysis of their swing and throw.

Camp Creativity with Allen Thurlow
The champions league is the world’s premier soccer club tournaments, and United Soccer Academy is bringing its very
own version to your! It’s time for your child to become a premier player on one of USA’s Premier Play Soccer Camps. There will be two groups: ages 7—11, and ages 11—14.

At Camp Creativity, creators and inventors ages entering 2nd
through 8th grade will expand their creative thinking skills!
Campers will independently choose to work on technology
projects of their dreams by brainstorming and creating under
the guidance of Bedwell Technology teacher Mr. Thurlow.
Using the iPads, technology lab, digital cameras and building
sets, campers will make their projects come to life!

Bernardsville Boys and Girls Youth Basketball Camp with
Tim Palek, Varsity Boys Basketball Coach, BHS
The camp focus will be on player skill development through
participation in age appropriate drills and games. Our
campers will experience a fun and exciting atmosphere where
they can enjoy themselves and improve their basketball skills
at the same time. There will be daily contests for different age
levels with prizes for the winners. Please bring drinks and a
snack. All skill levels are welcome!
Campers will have extensive options for their self-developed
project ideas, as each morning Mr. Thurlow will introduce
several new and exciting technology skills to campers to
explore. Afternoons will give campers freedom to explore
individual projects, which may include designing solar paneled
Lego kits, creating inventions, learning about digital
photography, producing presentations and digital animations,
building 3-D architectural models, designing video games,
exploring new apps and launching websites.
Each two week session will conclude in a camp presentation
of the project you have designed from the week! Please
provide snacks and lunch.

SPORTS
Bernards Lacrosse Camp with David Brothers
Bernards Lacrosse Camp will be a developmental skills and
drills lacrosse setting. The Fundamentals will be taught and
practiced in both a competitive and non-competitive
environment. The camp is for both boys and girls and is a
great place to both learn and foster lacrosse skills in a fun
atmosphere. This is a no equipment camp, but sticks and
mouth guards are required. Please bring water.
Total Play Multi Sports with United Soccer Academy
Experience over 16 different sports from around the world
including soccer, basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, disc golf,
cricket, floor hockey and many more at this camp. All activities
will take place in an atmosphere which promotes good
sportsmanship, teamwork and most of all, fun. There will be
two groups: ages 5—8, and 8—11. This is the only sports
camp truly dedicated to children of all abilities. Please bring

Baseball Camp with Jeff Falzarano
First Play Soccer with United Soccer Academy
This camp is designed to introduce and develop baseball
skills, while keeping it fun. All participants will receive a
T-shirt along with other awards. We hope to also incorporate
pitching and catching instructions. Please bring water.
