Book in advance
Advance fares are Single (one-way) tickets offering great value
for money on many longer distance journeys. These tickets are
subject to availability and must be booked in advance.
In general, the further ahead you book, the cheaper the
Advance fare will be. You can mix and match Advance fares
for a return journey.
Travel during less busy times
Off-Peak fares are cheaper tickets for travel after the morning
rush hour. You can buy Off-Peak tickets before or on your day of
travel; availability of Off-Peak fares is restricted to certain times
and trains.
Use a Railcard
There is a wide range of annual railcards available, offering
up to 1/3 off the cost of travel. Visit railcard.co.uk
for full details.
Buy a Season ticket
If you are making the same journey just three days a week or
more, getting a Season ticket can mean considerable savings.
An annual ticket offers 52 weeks' travel for the price of 40, and
weekly and month Season tickets are also available.
