Special Note
To all the Chieftains and Calumet residents. Thank you for all your prayers,
donations, love, and support. Emma loves her new hats and is in great spirits. She is
still the happy, sweet, silly, little girl that she has always been. She is currently going
through chemotherapy and is about to start radiation treatments. The doctors are
saying her condition is treatable, but her treatment plan will last 9 – 12 months. The
trials and tribulations we are going through feel never ending at times, but there is a
light at the end of the tunnel. Because of all of you, this light is shining bright.
Emma told us the other day that we never give up, parents don’t give up, friends
don’t give up, and little girls don’t give up. I think she is the strongest one of us all.
God doesn’t give anyone anything they can’t handle. We ask that you continue to
pray for Emma. With all of you as our support group, we know that we can do this.
We appreciate everything you have done for us and we thank you again for your
support.
Nicole and Logan Elliott

A NOTE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Just when I think that things could not go any better at Calumet
Public School, something does. As a School Superintendent, we
always want what is the best education of our students. The
enthusiasm of our staff and students are at an all-time high. As we
raise expectations, students seem to be ready and up for the
challenge.
As we higher our expectations for students, they respond in a
positive manner. Our ACT test scores are improving year to year.
You as a community can be proud of the students we are turning
out into college and the work force. It takes all of us working
together to make this happen.
Last, it is testing time again. We have done our 5th and 8th grade
writing test this week. Just as important is the C.R.T. and E.O.I.
testing that is in the near future. To all parents of students in our
school system, please make sure that your child is always ready for
the school day. Check the grades online; help us show just how
imperative it is to stay on top of their school work. All students need
9-10 hours of sleep each night, plus a balanced meal so they are
ready to learn and test to their fullest potential. Let us all work
together to encourage your child to reach their own potential.
As always, thank you the community for giving us the opportunity
to help educate your students.
Respectfully,
Keith Weldon
