Pennsylvania Draft Horse Youth Showman Program
The purpose of the Pennsylvania Draft Horse Youth Showman Program is to encourage youth to continue to strive
for their goals of becoming successful showmen and to recognize their achievements.
To Qualify


Youth must be a Junior Member of the PA Draft Horse & Mule Association
Youth must have competed in three qualifying shows, one of which must be the Pennsylvania Farm Show;
youth may compete in more than three shows, however only three may be reported
Qualifying Shows and Classes



Only draft horse shows in the state of Pennsylvania will be considered qualifying shows
The following will be eligible classes - Youth Decorating, Youth Showmanship and Youth Cart
Eligible classes must have a minimum of three entries shown in the class to be considered
Point Calculation


Points will be calculated by the actual placing that occurs in a class
Points will be earned as follows: First place – 8 points, Second place – 6 points, Third place – 4 points,
Fourth place – 3 points, Fifth place – 2 points, Sixth place – 1 point
Pennsylvania Draft Horse Youth Showman Recognition





To be recognized as a Grand Champion Pennsylvania Draft Horse Youth Showman, youth must earn 60
points or above
To be recognized as a Reserve Champion Pennsylvania Draft Horse Youth Showman, youth must earn
between 52 and 59 points
To be recognized as a Honorable Mention Pennsylvania Draft Horse Youth Showman, youth must earn
between 40 and 51 points
All nomination forms will be due November 1st of the current year; shows must have been held between
November 1st of the previous year and October 31st of the current year
Pennsylvania Draft Horse Youth Showmen will be recognized at the Annual Membership Meeting of the PA
Draft Horse & Mule Association, which is held annually at the PA Farm Show in January
