Enrollment Available Now 人力資源管理文憑課程 Diploma Programme in Human Resource Management Introduction The global economy is complex and companies are always in competition with each other. In order to perform well, many organisations aim at raising their returns by exploring new business opportunities, minimizing expenses and fully utilising their limited resources. Human resource is the most valuable and unique asset which represents one of the largest investments in an organisation. Effective management of human resource is vital because it can enhance staff productivity and efficiency, and help to strengthen organisational performance. This Programme is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge and skills to those who are interested in human resource management and to increase the expertise of practitioners in this field. It integrates academic and practical aspects of human resource management and aims at providing participants with up-to-date knowledge, skills, techniques and training which will enable them to make wise decision in managing and developing human resource in the ever-changing business environment. Objectives The objectives of this Programme are: (a) To provide fundamental and comprehensive knowledge and skills to participants who are interested to develop their career in human resource management; and (b) To equip existing practitioners with up-to-date knowledge and all-rounded practical skills and techniques in human resource management with a view to further developing their career, and preparing them for further studies in the related discipline. Programme Duration and Structure This Programme consists of 9 modules with a total of 288 contact hours. Participants will take about 15 months to complete the Programme by part-time study mode. Modules: Principles of Management Organisational Behaviour Human Resource Planning and Staffing Training and Development Compensation Management Performance Management Employee Relations Legal Aspects of Human Resource Management Information Technology and Human Resource Management Total: 288 hours 1 Delivery Mode This Programme will be delivered by face-to-face instruction. Lectures and case studies will be arranged to facilitate participants’ learning. Medium of Instruction Teaching activities will be conducted in Cantonese, supplemented by English. Learning materials will be mainly in English. All assessments will be in English. Admission Requirements Applicants seeking admission to the Programme should: (a) Have a minimum of 5 passes in HKCEE, and at least 3 years' related working experiences; OR (b) Have Level 2 or above in 5 subjects in Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE), and at least 2 years' related working experience; OR (c) A Certificate/Diploma in business related disciplines offered by CUSCS, or its equivalent from other recognized institutions; OR (d) Be mature student at the age of 21 or above with at least 5 years' related working experience. OR (e) Be holder of a recognized degree. Award of Diploma Participants' performance is monitored and assessed on a continuous basis through class participation, assignments, final examination and group project. To qualify for the award of the Diploma in Human Resource Management, participants must: (a) achieve an attendance rate of at least 70%; and (b) pass in the assessment of each module; and (c) successfully complete a programme group project. Teaching Faculty Qualified teaching staff will be drawn from local universities and related sectors, mostly with a higher degree and a minimum of two years' teaching experience in the relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience. Tuition Fee The tuition fee for the entire programme covering 9 modules is HK$26,000. Participants are required to pay the tuition fee in 2 instalments, HK$16,000 is payable upon receipt of official notice of admission and HK$10,000 is payable before the commencement of the second semester. It will help participants understand the roles of a manager in the following areas: planning, decision-making, organising, leading, employee management, and control. It also covers an introduction to the nature of organisations in relation to management practices. Participants will be able to apply their knowledge in management decision making and also manage cultural diversity under different social and cultural environments of the organisations. It also enables them to employ contemporary tools and techniques to attract and select the most suitable candidates in the labour market for the organisation. Module Outline ● Business environment and labour market ● Human resource planning process ● Job analysis and job design ● Methods of recruitment ● Selection tools and procedures ● Interview techniques ● Manpower deployment and utilisation ● Outsourcing and sub-contracting ● Emerging human resource challenges and trends Training and Development Contact Hours : 32 hours Participants will acquire basic techniques in assessing training needs, designing and conducting effective training to develop the staff and the organisation. Participants will also have a better understanding on cross-cultural issues on training, and on the importance of developing training strategies for different kinds of organisations. Participants will 5 develop competencies in making compensation decision under different business scenarios. Participants will be provided with skills to enhance communication and minimise conflicts within an organisation. Human resource practices and company policies in Hong Kong will also be covered. Areas of equal opportunities and personal data privacy in the workplace that relate to human resource management will be highlighted. They will be equipped with up-to-date information on the application of Information Technology and information systems, which are useful to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in managing human resource.
